    The Zishan dsd's corner

It doesn't shuffle right :D ! Folder shuffle often repeats the same song or just 2 or 3 songs, super random..

    The Zishan dsd's corner

Seems there is a new firmware out for Zishan DSD AK 4497 (maybe so the other versions), 0.4K. I haven't managed to download it from the Baidu website though, and I didn't see the changelog. Did anyone have more luck downloading it? I'm curious about the changes. My shuffle still doesn't seem to...

    The Zishan dsd's corner

I personally find the DSD a real beast. It's not perfect though. I have the stock 4497 version. In itself I find the firmware fine, though it's not slick it's responsive and functional. When you have a big music library however, you do have to structure your music in a few folders ( I use Genre...

    The Zishan dsd's corner

Seriously digging this player.. Finally found a DAP that is 'good enough' to my ears. It sounds very effortless, and the bass is well extended and not loose at all (with my earbuds - K's 500 & TY-150)

    The Zishan dsd's corner

As my boss was off to China for a week, I asked him to bring me back a Zishan DSD (4497EQ version) . Have been using my rooted Galaxy S5 with Viper4Audio so far, but also have a Zishan Z1 (I prefer the S5, even though I think for the 23$ I paid the Z1 sounds crazy good - a world of diff with my...

    Obscure Chinese DAPs

I bought a Zishan Z2 a few months back and love it! The only thing that bothers me is the lack of (sub) bass extension. If you listen to acoustic music, you most likely will never notice. It's truly exceptional value for the 26$ I paid.

    Absolute best budget earbuds?

Just a little message to let those not on Earbuds Anonymous FB group ( shameless plug for sir Miner's group ;) ) - HE150 earbud is made by the same talented guy that's behind TY Hi-Z, ColaRad, HE brand too (stands for Hi-Fi End) and since recently, also SeaHF. Just to take away some doubts

    Earbuds Round-Up

No preamp needed, it sounds really good straight from my Galaxy S4 (I9506 version) with PowerAmp and gets loud enough !

    Absolute best budget earbuds?

Anyone got their SeaHF 150 in yet from the sale? Too early I'm guessing... Eager to read some impressions.   I changed my mind on those 2  extra pairs of HE150 that I ordered... I'm going to hoard BOTH! I'll give my brother a Monk v1 or TY HP32 v1 instead :) .. I'm afraid of the source for...

    Earbuds Round-Up

As I'm getting more playing hours on my K's 500 I really must say I love them! They sound so effortless, really good bass response and extention but leaves all the space for the rest of the frequencies - nothing seems to interfere with eachother. Not distracting bass cannon bass, but controlled...

    Obscure Chinese DAPs

I have been eyeing the Zishan, especially without volume dial 4490 version (as build quality has been reported to be iffy, with most problems concerning the volume pot). However, just checked that linked Cayin N3 out and damn, that looks like a great deal for 150$ !

    Earbuds Round-Up

I was seriously tempted to snap up a SeaHF150 LD 3.0 at the price of 14.30$. If it's using the same drivers as HE150 it may still be a little bit different because of the cable and plug used. From review comments on AliExpress though it really does sound like it could have the exact same driver...

    Absolute best budget earbuds?

No I just said (because I've been vocal about HE150 for a while trying to get people to try them out) that someone contacted me linking Seahf150, and mentioning that he thought maybe the same drivers were used in both (BugBro's 150 ohm drivers ?) . I then checked out Seahf150 on AliExpress, and...

    Absolute best budget earbuds?

@fairx Though the Ty32v1 are laid back in feeling and perhaps the mids are a little bit recessed in those, I didn't feel it as much as I did in HE150. I wouldn't list it as a weakness of the Ty32v1, while I would (unEQ'd) of the HE150. Another member here sent me a message commenting on my...

    Absolute best budget earbuds?

@vapman If I push the bass knob on 'Tone' to max I can max out the volume to what I'm comfortable listening at (granted, very subjective), without distortion. If I however combine that with the normal EQ I run, it does distort. It's not a silly bass cannon bud, just a detailed bud with a sweet...

    Absolute best budget earbuds?

Sorry man, I can't boost down that low with PowerAmp on my S4, and neither can I quantify how many db's I'm boosting. Neither am I pushing you to order these :) - I'd just like to hear more people's experiences with these especially when comparing. Monk v1 for 5$ *BLEW* me away then, and built...

    Absolute best budget earbuds?

I read about the HE150 through Justin's @BloodyPenguin review, and figured I would like it. Considering the price I ordered one. Have been loving it so far, and singing it's praises left and right because it deserves it imho. Like Justin said: value is through the roof!   Mids are a little...

    Earbuds Round-Up

I'd recommend HE150 for better quality bassy earbuds for (still, at 14$) very little money! I have Qian39 too and they're nice, but knowing what I know now I would have probably skipped them. I have quite a few earbuds waiting for all my better ones to break now before I'll ever touch them...

    Earbuds Round-Up

Just a quick message to say that I'm loving my K's 500 :). This is my only high end bud, but yeah, really love them. I only use them in the house, with either S4 (rooted with custom kernel for better audio) or on my laptop. They're driven just fine, though I think I notice a bit more ease and...

    Earbuds Round-Up

Wowwww blast from the past! I had those E888 when I was about, oh, 15 years younger :D !? I remember them as sounding very good, but not built very sturdily.. Take the sounding good with a grain of salt though, my sources and source material has improved so much since then that I don't know how...

    Earbuds Round-Up

They use the same shell as Monk+ (Sennheiser MX sumfin shell :) ) - at first they were uncomfortable for me too after a while. If you're willing to stick with it, that does get better with time (as someone advised me when I tried Monk v1 a while back, and it turned out to be true).   Apart...

    Earbuds Round-Up

I can't speak for the RY4S as I never heard those, but I have 2 pairs of Qian39. While they have a decent amount of bass, the quality of bass is very low. Don't expect impact from beats, it's very loose. I like the Qian39, and I think it works well for older recordings of bands, gives bass...

    Absolute best budget earbuds?

I've been singing praises for these HE150 ohm's left and right after that I picked them up at Penon (ebay) after reading BloodyPenguin's review.. I compare to Monk v1 and TY HP32 v1, and I am thoroughly impressed by them. They're not for everything, but (though they are NOT LIMITED TO THIS) they...

    Earbuds Round-Up

Pay twice the bottom budget price for a HE150 from Penon if you want good bass. Monk+ has none in comparison, even old Monk has way weaker bass response (both in extension and in control). Qian39 souds pleasant and has a warm sound, sufficient bass but slow and bloated in comparison - I have two...
