Our dorm walls are made of thick concrete so it isolates well I guess

With music turned up about 1/4 of the way my roommate from about 7 feet away can hear it. This of course is a dorm room that's relatively silent tho.

Screw it, I've decided to keep the 800 after auditioning a LOT of headphone at the bh super store. The sound with even a cheap m stage amp and dac is amazing. For anyone that's auditioned the 800S, how much better are they? 10%, 20%, 50%? Sorry for spamming the post.

Never mind then, I was going to suggest you to move to Windows as my MacBook pro had issues with this very problem in osx. Sorry!

I listen to a lot of house, trap, and progressive stuff. Examples would be seven lions, au5, Zedd, Rezonate etc. I can take flat sound signatures fairly well and most likely I'll be producing some progressive stuff on here. The hd800s which I've read have some kind of treble defect don't bother...

Meant neutral sound. Sorry, I'm relatively new to this so I don't know the right terminology. I'll give the dt 250s a look. How do the t5ps fair for mastering? I'll be also using these cans for audiophile types of enjoyment, not sure if any set of headphones can meet those standards...

First and foremost, are you using Mac or Windows? It's a little detail that makes a huge difference in how album art gets transferred i find.

Hey guys, thanks for the response! I'll see how it goes but I don't see myself justifying a 500 dollar price difference if it's minor changes, and I don't see myself needing the balanced cable. How is the m stage amp as a budget option for the 800s?

I actually bought the 800 on Amazon for 1200... Should I return it for the new model?
