Had the same problem with the A8 HT, stopped using it after about 1 week. I don't find that not using it breaks the illusion of speakers, rather using it does. Go figure.

So how does the A16 compare to the A8, worth the jump?

I thought there was more siblance at first, maybe my ears adjusted, but now they seem alright. Recommend the upgrade. Edit: after a few days with the new pad thickness, sound is awesome, more spacious/airy and better definition.

Was regretting not getting in early on the kickstarter for the A16, but after seeing all the issues, glad to be still using the A8 trouble free for so many years. Everyday it still blows my mind, awesome audio quality.

Who has compared the A16 directly to the A8? DSperber?

So do they still support the A8 for repairs etc? I got a new remote for it awhile back, but it was not the same as my original in terms of build quality.

To be honest, Atmos for me is not such a big upgrade. Don't care much for it. A8 does me just fine.

Just take a few measurements at home of ceiling atmos speakers and mix it with the AIX PRIR. A16 has that tech built in now.

It required OOYH guys to decode my personalised PRIR, which is another $150, so $300. Only tried it out in trial mode, which is limited to 2 minutes at a time. Without LFE I was not able to fully compare them, or get an accurate result.

OOYH was alright with my own PRIR from my A8, but the problem is there is no way to get the LFE channel to my subwoofer with OOYH.

Had the for A8 for five years now. I swapped out the foam mic inserts with ear buds from in ear headphones.

How does the converted PRIR from the A8, using the OOYH software, compare to using the A8 directly. Is there any difference in 7.1 sound reproduction?

Don't know how many scams I have seen on Kickstarter that don't deliver, A16 should be alright though. A8 was a success.

If A16 ever gets Dolby cert, I hope Smyth updates the A8 firmware with Dolby cert. Why not just ship A16 with LPCM and update the firmware later with Dolby/DTS. Stop the waiting game
