    Sony's new flagship 2014 - MDR-Z7

Yeah, my experience was that you have to talk to Sony support directly, give them the model of your headphones, and they're the only ones who can really order it for you. At least, that's how it was when I did it.

    Sony's new flagship 2014 - MDR-Z7

Yeah, exactly same reason I got mine. I ended up replacing the pads after just about a year and a half. The new pads Sony has been using are really soft and luxurious, but they wear pretty quickly if they're your every day drivers, like my 1R's were.

    Sony's new flagship 2014 - MDR-Z7

My experience with Sony has been that if you want replacement pads, you have to call them. I called them to get some replacement pads for my MDR-1Rs. They were reasonable and I bought two pairs just because I didn't want to have to get on the phone again. They definitely don't make it easy...

    IEM recommendations?

Hi all,   I've been into headphones for a while, but only the over-ear variety. I know several people swear by IEMs, but for the life of me I can't remember an experience where an IEM has wowed me in anywhere near the same way that circum-aural headphones have. I figure I must just not be...

Any good portable, sub $500 speakers for PC?

I've had really good results with Vers speakers.   https://versaudio.com/#intro   I feel like the wood enclosures add a very warm sound to vocals, and they're pretty reasonable price-wise. They used to make a 1'x2' system out of a cherry which I still have and greatly enjoy. They have...

Looking for a good set of speakers (either 2.0/2.1) for around $150

As someone who was in a very similar situation nearly a year ago, I recommend looking around at your local record/audio stores. I got some Sony bookshelf speakers with 8" woofers for $20 each, which left me enough to get a decent enough desktop amp for about $100 from the same place. I'm really...
