MHDT Labs: R-2R NOS Tube DACs
Well I'm using Gustard U12 for USB to Coax converting. It is really good for its money. And it has a small screen for sample rate. If its expensive for you, you can check other DDC solutions. And I agree with @Soundsgoodtome about USB noise. You should use either a usb reclocker or a DDC to...- Sechtdamon

MHDT Labs: R-2R NOS Tube DACs
I'm using Atlantis, and i can say if you want to use it via USB input, you should have a seperate computer for playback only. Its USB input is too picky. (My desktop cannot feed it properly, but a seperate entry grade laptop with empty task manager can feed it.) Or you can buy a usb...- Sechtdamon

Btw guys, earlier i mentioned about a electrical hum from Atlantis. As it turns out its because bad distrubution of electricity of the apartment. My room's outlets share switch with another room. I made the Ep-507 upgrade (SR-507 pads) recently. They are really softer, and ofc more comfortable. And they're not only a comfort upgrade. Imho, they help with subbass region, and a bit tamer highs. They are warming SR-207's sound a bit.- Sechtdamon

MHDT Labs: R-2R NOS Tube DACs
My amp is Srm-252s, currently working with a walwart. There was no humming issues with my other dacs but they were working with either usb power (HRT MS II+) or power supply (Smsl M8). It might be due to poor powering. Cuz i have one outlet in my room and all my devices gets power from it. ...- Sechtdamon

MHDT Labs: R-2R NOS Tube DACs
Hum noise diminishes as it keeps working, with ot without recieving signal. Yes it has the hum with all of my tubes. Btw if this information helps identifying the problem: the sound of hum sometimes increases and decreases quickly. Like: MMMMMMMmmmmmmMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmm- Sechtdamon

MHDT Labs: R-2R NOS Tube DACs
Hey guys, I have a question for you. I have Atlantis dac. When it's powered up, it starts with hum noise (low level 50-60 hz noise). The hum diminishes by time. Hum exists only when there is no signal. When a song starts to play it ceases humming. Is it normal for a tube component? or is...- Sechtdamon

Gustard Amplifiers and DACs
Hey guys, i have a problem with my Gustard U12, and since main thread of it is closed, i wanted to ask on this thread. My Gustard U12 have slight mechanical hum. Not carried through audio chain to my ears but its power supply (i guess) making audible noise when it's powered up. Is it a...- Sechtdamon

Srs-2170 is really quiet. I dont know what you meant exactly as saying noise but, bad walwart can bring noise, if your dac has loose transformer inside; it can bring noise, bad usb connection (fed problems, a lot of device to weak computer, etc) can bring noise. Srm-252s can pick and bring...- Sechtdamon

Good (as good as 300$ can buy) transport laptop suggestion
Hey guys, I want to buy a laptop or 2in1 for using just for transport pc. I want it small (11,6 or 10,1 inch) and quiet. I mean i dont want any mechanical disk and fan. I'll just use it with foobar 2k. And it must be around 300 dollars. I'll feed transport ddc with it. Thanks for all...- Sechtdamon

MHDT Havana DAC
Well luckbad, when i mentioned my problems to Jiun, he immediately offered board replacement on the house. I'll try it first. I also get a cheap (musiland us 02) ddc too. My computer is multitasking, most probably best solution is getting a ddc anyway. :) btw while deciding buying it, i...- Sechtdamon

Sure, you should use it first, try it out and hear the sound. Fiio makes good products for their price. What i wanted to mean is; you'll get really good improvements with source upgrades, interconnect upgrades. As you try and try.- Sechtdamon

@Zimmermann don't get me wrong. The dacs i used were not bad dacs, but as i heard, they are all have some tradeoffs to sound good on other areas. If you wanna get a budget dac or any source, you really have to check it's synergy with system. Btw, check especially for good treble performance, cuz...- Sechtdamon

To be honest, i'd not counting on the price discount. Nearly half year passed since L500 and L700 came out but no price discount happened on Sr-507's price. And i havent owned any other Stax earspeaker other than mine but as i see from forum members, as they get older they become more reliable...- Sechtdamon

And i took his advice, (was thinking to buy L-500 and Srm-353x) and gave up on upgrade. Well i'll do an upgrade anyway. But i can tell you this. Srs-2170 is...- Sechtdamon

Birgir advices not to buy a stax just after they released. What he said actually: "Haven’t tried the new Lambdas yet but I will once the early production issues have been settled. I’ve been doing this for long enough to know not to touch a new Stax headphone right after release."- Sechtdamon

Hey guys. I'm learning a lot from this topic. Nearly one year ago i actually joined you by buying stax srs-2170 system. But i was just a reader till now.
