FWIW, I use a MZ3 as a preamp with a Z40+ and it is a super sweet combo that I cannot imagine will be bettered in my system. Maybe if you can find a used Z40+ like I did, you could keep your options open.

Has anyone tried rolling the tubes in their Z10? I am primarily looking for a crisp top end and holographic soundstage. The tone of my stock tubes (Reflector, CEI, BEL, Sylvania) is good but overall presentation is slightly muted vs MZ3. LTA suggested Philips or Mullard EL84 with Philiips 12AU7.
