++ FULL-SIZE HEADPHONE RECOMMENDATIONS THREAD++ CLOSED: Please post a thread in the Introductions, Help and Advice forum

Except I need something portable too.  I'm really leaning towards the ibasso as I can use it on my laptop as a dac, on my desktop behind my x-fi for gaming (while charging!), and as an amp behind my sansa clip too.     Quote:

Getting a new first setup put together and was just wanting some second opinions.  FIrst off, I will be mostly listening to electronica on the go/at home and playing video games on my PC with this.  Sources are currently my android phone (lg optimus aka p500) which will be replaced with a...

oh noes!! all sorts of questions.

well i was gonna go with the darth beyers, but i'm now also debating the 990s and the 880s. I'm listen to all sorts of stuff mostly techno though. so i'd like a pair of cans that are diverse, but excel in bass. also i've currently got an audigy 2 zs that i picked up second hand, so i don't...

    darth beyer recommendations?

i'm beginning to hate you head-fi... >_< i haven't even bought my first pair of cans since i joined and i'm already thinking i might need to trade around a bit or get a couple pairs. Anywho, i've read that the 880s are really good, to the point I might get those instead. i'd save a bit of...

    darth beyer recommendations?

I've settled on getting the darth beyers. Now the question is. what do they need to be their best. I'll be using my computer as source. I've currently got an Audigy 2 ZS. I've been looking at the e-mu 4040. (100 bucks on newegg for a VERY nice sound card from what i've read here) would...

    90 dollar budget...

hey, i'm buying a 90 dollar set of cans... one problem. i don't know what pair to get. i play a lot of games, and musically i listen to a lot of techno and hardcore... not to mention the odd movie/anime. any ideas, head-fi?

    audigy 4? x-fi?

I'm curious as to what the difference is between eax 4.0 and 5.0? is it worth it to pay the extra money for an xfi? It'll be going digital out to a number cruncher dac then to senheiser hd 550s. games play an important role here, but music is still number 1.

creative zen micro or ipod nano?

what i want. advice on audio quality as it pertains to mobile players. the size and software i'm fine on figuring out myself, i'm a computer nerd at heart anyhow. (i would end up using winamp most likely anyway) so some can do lossless, some can't, that's good to know, if both are doing mp3s or...

creative zen micro or ipod nano?

I'm debating the 8 gig zen micro for 190ish or the 8 gig ipod nano for 250. any difference in sound quality? battery life? general experiences? i've gone through 2 full sized ipods allready, one 20gig 4g and another 40gig 4g, both lost to hard drive failure, so i'm done with moving parts...

also, the number cruncher has digital inputs while x-fi has analog outputs... this seems to be a problem unless i'm missing something here.

    help a head-fi noob out

ok with a budget of 500-1000 dollars (leaning far more to the 500 side) what would you build? I need sound card, headphones and amp. this will be for games, music and movies. I would like to have a pair of speakers plugged in as well, switchable or something for easy changing between...
