Beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO - Beyer's open-back mastering headphone
I've not noticed any difference in imaging quality. There's a *slight* softness that balances the sound in a way that's been all around pleasing, and the comfort has been HUGELY improved by the Elite Velours. Haven't even thought of switching back once I put them on.- Xelpud

Audeze LCD-X
Given that I definitely like the energy the LCD-X has around those areas, that definitely tilts me towards the solid sheepskin. I trust there's no noticeable loss of clarity with them?- Xelpud

Audeze LCD-X
After a good many years of service, the pads in my LCD-X are due for a change, and having been very happy with Dekoni's work (as well as their slightly thicker pads leaving my ears less likely to press against the headphone), I'm looking to make a swap. At present, I'm looking at either their...- Xelpud

Trying to Connect DAC to LG V30
Hello there! Wanted to chime in with my findings--hell if I know why it works, but connecting a flash drive to the OTG cable, then swapping it for a DAC works 100% of the time for me. Seems as though anything BUT the DAC wakes up the connection, but once it's going, it works just fine through...- Xelpud

NEW - Campfire Comet and Atlas
How well do the Atlases play with Apple's Lightning to 3.5mm connector? I'm rather keen on picking up an iPhone Xs, but I'd much, MUCH rather not look at another $300 just for a Litz cable terminated in lightning if it can be reasonably helped.- Xelpud

NEW - Campfire Comet and Atlas
So far I'm absolutely loving my new Atlases, but I've got a rather curious problem with them--of all the tips that came with them, the Final Audio large tips have been the most comfortable and produced the best sound. However, there seems to be a VERY fine line between getting a proper seal and...- Xelpud

Trying to Connect DAC to LG V30
A little ways back, I found myself in need of a new phone, and with it, I decided to finally take the plunge for a portable DAC/AMP combo and picked up an ifi iDSD Micro Black Label and an LG V30+. Ever since though, I've been utterly flummoxed as to how to get the two working together. I've got...- Xelpud

Bluetooth aptX conversion for headsets like Sennheiser HD 6XX
That's a brilliant idea! I've got someone who would absolutely love an HD650, but who would never be able to use it without a Bluetooth connection. Thanks for the inspiration.- Xelpud

LG V30
Does anyone have any experience running the V30 through an external DAC? I've been beating my head out for a while trying to get my iDSD Micro BL to work with my Moto X4, only to find that Motorola in their infinite wisdom, decided not to support USB audio on this model, leaving me to hunt down...- Xelpud

Audeze LCD-X
The only way the LCD-X are going to sound unpleasant is if you start pumping some Celine Dion into them. To Audeze's credit, those things will shine on pretty much anything that isn't coming out of an Altoid's tin.- Xelpud

Jazzpunk biography of a schizophrenic pitcher. A little rough around the edges, but definitely worth a listen. -
DAC to mobo sound card?
The only such device I'm familiar with off the top of my head is something like an A/B/Y Stereo splitter, which while it might technically work, seems a bit much for your use case.- Xelpud

DAC to mobo sound card?
Just a little off. The Sys takes the output from your DAC and splits it to either two different amps or an amp and a powered monitor. You're not gonna plug your headphones into the Sys, so the chain looks like PC > DAC > Sys > Amp > Headphones. Personally though, I really don't see the need for...- Xelpud

DAC to mobo sound card?
Unfortunately, you're out of luck on this one, barring some custom hardware that I'm not presently aware of. The only audio input port I've ever seen on a computer has been a line-in port on a sound card, but that just re-digitizes your music, rendering the entire exercise moot.- Xelpud

What book are you reading right now?
I've been reading my way through Jordan Peterson's reading list as of late (https://jordanbpeterson.com/2017/10/great-books/). Still not sure if this is the best starting point for Jung's work, but it's definitely thought provoking, and I'm very much looking forward to delving further into his...- Xelpud

Best gear for listening to classical music...
Aye, if the HD800S doesn't do it for you, odds are, you just don't like classical--definitely a pair that've been sitting on my wish list for a while.. What I'd really love is to hear is how the coloration of the GS1000s carries over to the improvements in the GS2000s, but so far as I can tell...- Xelpud

An intense listening experience, but definitely well worth your while if avant-garde, heavy metal, klezmer jazz is up your alley. -
Are people using sound cards or dac's? What is the general opinion?
Personally, I'd say it all comes down to whether or not you've any need of the extra processing features offered by a dedicated sound card. If so--go for it! If not, an external DAC will tend to offer more flexibility and better long term value. Realistically though, given your current setup...- Xelpud

Best gear for listening to classical music...
While it's definitely a bit of an esoteric pick, I've always REALLY liked the Grado GS1000s for classical music. Soundstage for days, phenomenal imaging and clarity, and a good sense of dynamics. They tend to run a little hot once you start moving too far away from acoustic music, but they're...- Xelpud

Why so many defective Grado GS1000?
No picture on me at the moment, but I sent out a pair of original GS1000s after having some difficulties with the rods on and the left driver. Looks like both drivers were swapped out with the new red ones, but they definitely sound great.- Xelpud

Schiit Jotunheim Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV
Seems the lead times on the website are fairly conservative. Mine was scheduled to ship on the week of the 13th, Fed Ex told me last week to expect it this Friday, and it showed up at my doorstep yesterday. Very pleased with it so far when paired with my GS1000s (though, I'll admit that shoving...- Xelpud
