    Stax Sigma upgrade

I'm using a SRM-T1 driver from a Lexicon MC-1/Pioneer Elite DVD player to driver them. They seemed to have more high end than low end. I noticed if I put my hands over the sides the bass got deeper. I'm thinking of trying different material's to test the effects on the sound. Prehaps the batting...

    Stax Sigma upgrade

I now have working Sigma Pro earspeakers with the PCC cable!!!!!! Everything new and original except for the enclosure and the material inside the earspeaker. Used some batting for that. The original stuff is a bit dirty after all this time. It was an Original Sigma set. The guy on eBay even...

    Stax Sigma upgrade

I added two pictures of the low cap. ext. cable I made. I plan on covering the body with the stuff you coat tools with to give it that rubber feel. I used RTV so I could use the cable as it was meant to if I had too. Total cost $32. $30 for the NOS cable and around 2 for the fitting. The female...

    Stax Sigma upgrade

so I won't I have an update. I was going to use a NOS 6 prong cable for my Sigma pro's ($30). What I planed and did to an extent was ground down the center pin and then create a grove that I could jumper the center pin to the bias. Then I covered the grove with the wire in it with black RTV...

    Stax Sigma upgrade

Sure. I'll take some pictures and send them to you. By the way I picked up two replacement cords, two sets of SR-202 drivers and a headband from the guy who is selling the Canadian stock on eBay. I plan on making a quadraphonic/surround stax earspeaker. I'll start a new tread for that. Not sure...

    Stax Sigma upgrade

I'm going on vacation. One of my stops is Music Direct in Chicago. They sell the Stax line. Think I'll give them a listen. I also want to take a close look at the drivers. Yama's site appears to show red drivers for SR-202's. Maybe the black ones are older ones. ?? I would like to see the...

    Stax Sigma upgrade

http://www.yamasinc.com/PDF/SRS2050II.pdf about the almost identical to the higher end models. You are right black rim instead of red. Still the specs are exactly the same. Maybe red is a cosmetic thing? I rather have a red sports car than a black one.

    Stax Sigma upgrade

Ok. That was a diagram that was given to me by another fellow. Can you please post what it should be? I was going to go by the markings I made on spades anyway but it would be nice to be correct in this thread.

    Stax Sigma upgrade

There are 4 screws on the front and one screw on the rear. This screw is actually where the headband goes into. I used a flat bladed screwdriver here instead of a Phillips head. Once those are removed you'll have to uncover the wires that are coming into the headphones. There are three wires...

    Stax Sigma upgrade

Well nothing from Stax as of yet. Accutech says the Silisters are no longer available as well as any other Sigma parts. All they can do is offer you an upgrade to SR-404 parts at a cost of $650 not including the headband. So I asked them can I get just the drivers? They said the drivers are...

    Stax Sigma upgrade

I was wrong. The Sigma's don't use resistors at all but Silistors which are thermally sensitive resistors. These fall into the class of PTC Thermistors. The part number for my Normal Sigma's is TS-4601. Sounds like Carl is correct. Overload protection. Thanks Carl. Now I'm hoping to find the...

    Stax Sigma upgrade

I have a question for the technical Stax users out there. I have normal Sigma headphones that I plan on upgrading myself to the pro version. I read in the tread below that Stax use to do it for a few hundred dollars. Does anybody know what they did to upgrade them? I have some NOS Sigma pro...
