Looking for ~$60 headphones for home use on a PC without a dedicated sound card

Well, I decided to go with CAD MH310, since based on the reviews they seemed like a good deal at $29.99 including shipping and since I got tired of waiting for SHP9500 to go on sale again.

Great All Around Open, Over Ear HP for Under $100 (HD518 vs SHP9500 vs ???)

Thanks, I might just wait for SHP9500 to go on sale again then.

Great All Around Open, Over Ear HP for Under $100 (HD518 vs SHP9500 vs ???)

Any input on how HD518 and SHP9500 compare? I'm thinking of getting either the former for $50 or waiting a bit for SHP9500 to go on sale again.

Looking for ~$60 headphones for home use on a PC without a dedicated sound card

Ugh, I still haven't bought the headphones, as I didn't need them, but I think now I do because of the neighbors rather than my roommate (subwoofer is producing vibrations throughout their apartment hah). In addition to the ones mentioned above, what would you say about Sennheiser HD518 for $50...

Looking for ~$60 headphones for home use on a PC without a dedicated sound card

Wait, what? You mean that literally?! Wouldn't that mean they're louder than my speakers?   As for the vicinity of my roommate, well, he's not in an adjoining room, and my doors are a 2 - 3 meters from his. So could you maybe elaborate a bit more on the loudness of SHP9500? And also, how...

Looking for ~$60 headphones for home use on a PC without a dedicated sound card

Well, he'd be behind two closed doors that are a few meters apart, and he doesn't have issues with me playing loud stuff unless the bass is really banging, so I'm not sure that the open back headphones would be audible to him at all. How loud are these exactly?

Looking for ~$60 headphones for home use on a PC without a dedicated sound card

Hmm, that Tascam MX2 suggestion is an intriguing one, now that I've looked a bit into it. It seems they really are decent headphones, though I've never heard of the company, so my first thought was to just discard them as an option.   As I said, I'm not sure whether open headphones would be...

Looking for ~$60 headphones for home use on a PC without a dedicated sound card

I'm not really sure, because I've never had open headphones. So I don't really know how that would sound like and if it would bother me. I plan on using my headphones at home and I don't expect I'd need to block out too much noise, but I can't tell how much I would. Mostly, it would be so...

Looking for ~$60 headphones for home use on a PC without a dedicated sound card

Could you be a bit more specific in terms of what you mean by balanced? Also, I've seen a lot on modding HD439, but is this possible and recommendable with HD449, as well? From what I've seen HD449 namely has even less bass, and the mod is also supposed to improve the sound in other aspects...

Looking for ~$60 headphones for home use on a PC without a dedicated sound card

Ugh, I missed out on the HD439 deal, so now I am considering HD449s. Care to give me a bit more detail on how good they sound? I'm now debating between these for $43 and Philips SHP9500 either refurbished for $50 or waiting for a deal.

Yeah, if I buy the HD439 today, it's because of the price. If I don't buy these, then I'm probably not even going to consider them or HD449s, since I'd go for the aforementioned Philips pair instead.

Looking for ~$60 headphones for home use on a PC without a dedicated sound card

Hmm, I'm now also heavily considering Senneheiser HD439, since you can get them for $35. Would these be a good option, especially if I did the mod?   For some reason I wouldn't want to go with those, especially with the above-mentioned Sennheiser price now, but thanks for the suggestion.

Looking for ~$60 headphones for home use on a PC without a dedicated sound card

Damn, it seems like I just missed the $45 deal for Philips SHP9500 over at Newegg. I haven't decided on a pair yet, so if anyone has any further input, please go ahead. But now I am kind of just waiting for another sale where I could get these ones for ~$50, new and not just refurbished.

Why would those two you guys recommended be better than any of the ones I listed? Serious question, I'm open to all suggestions.

Looking for ~$60 headphones for home use on a PC without a dedicated sound card

Hi guys, I'm looking for ~$60 headphones for home use on a PC without a dedicated sound card. I'd use them for listening to music (mostly hardcore, but I listen to all kinds of crap, including stoner metal, hip hop and indie rock, i.e. a wide variety of sounds) and watching sports...
