I have a feeling you may may have not explored enough judging from your one sided tunnelled view. what have you tried? I own S7 and pureview 808. Previously owned g2 and g4, iPhone 4. I think I can add enough to this discussion. I like smartphones and idea of all-in package. anyways I tried...- skywalker99

take a deep breath and count to 10... I'm not tracking anyone down (and cannot be bothered to test phones you mentioned - why would I, I'm not paid for it) - just relax, am just expressing my own opinions. I don't need to use every single phone on the market to know phones' sq is subpar...- skywalker99

Have not heard HTC 10 or v10 but very much doubt any phone can produce sound as live and engaging as DF. Have not tried DF red but supposed to be even better.- skywalker99

Samsung Galaxy S7 - Best next audiophile phone?
@ pbirkett I expressed my opinion and you won't change it either so I guess we have to agree to disagree :) btw, I'm not an adudiophile at all, just someone who enjoys good music and honest opinions (even if I'm in the minority).- skywalker99

Samsung Galaxy S7 - Best next audiophile phone?
Most people use beats or included earphones.... Listen, depends on your circumstances. If you use beats headphones or some cheapo for £10 than s7 is all you need. If you invested in proper headphones then imo you could get much much better sound out of them if you had proper dac& / better...- skywalker99

Strongly disagree. I would say that s7 dac is anything but powerfull. amp is even worse. hd600 are open back (so inhouse listening only), why would you use s7 as a stationnary dac with hi-res headphones?! S7 dac/amp absolutely does not stand a chance against anything desktop decent (over £20)...- skywalker99

OK I did some testing. I used iem SM e50, screen off, WiFi and signal on, stationary in central London. Fully charged from 100% went down to 95% in 1h and to 90% in 2h. So 5% drain per hour. Then, I tried with airplane mode on and results were close 4% per hour. I guess in the first test it...- skywalker99

Samsung Galaxy S7 - Best next audiophile phone?
Yeah, it's a bit better with earphones e.g. e10/e50. I go with around 70%-80% when there is little ambient sound or 90% when it's loud around. Still high.- skywalker99

Samsung Galaxy S7 - Best next audiophile phone?
s7 needs its volume cranked up all the way up to 90%-100% to get the right volume. That's a fact! This is way higher than other phones taht I used in the past. That's why people are complaining I imagine. I've used soundmagic e10/e50, msr7, fidelio x2. So not inefficient headphones at all. S7...- skywalker99

Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7 Discussion Thread
S7 boring in one word ☺️ but most phones are in this department. SQ in S7 is flat, muddled, tinny, lacks in details, hugely lacks in power (90-100% volume required), offers poor soundstage. If you have good cans they/you definitely deserve better. I was using S7 sound for a few months btw. the...- skywalker99

Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7 Discussion Thread
Just want to add to the thread. I was after portable headphones recently. Ideally I wanted something that is as fun as my fidelio x2s. After some research and demo'ing I purchased msr7 (over a month ago). In the process I had a go with Momentums 2 (around ear), B&O H6, Bose SoundTrue II...- skywalker99

don't get me wrong. I think s7 is really (comfortable to operate in one hand) good phone. But as we all know there isn't a perfect phone out there. Imo s7 has rubbish sq but this can be easily fixed (dragonfly or something similar). It depends what you want. My priorities were, battery, camera...- skywalker99

I don't think that's the case. I used s7 (naked?!) with Fidelio x2, in ear soundmagic e10/e50 (forgot to mention in my previous post), jaybrids x1 (rubbish earphones), msr7 and the same thing with all of them. I don't think there is a point of spending loads of money on dac/amp if you intend...- skywalker99

Comparing to pretty much anything I've had in the last few years (xonard dgx, stx, g2, g4, mojo, pureview 808) Don't get me wrong though, I love my s7. It's snappy, great camera, decent battery, versatile, vr etc. I've had it since the release. I purchased MSR7 (fantastic headphones btw)...- skywalker99

I can confirm that s7 audio sucks, the same goes with lg g4 have not heard v10 but I doubt it's very good. Besides v10 is massive and very awkward to handle, not to mention it's expensive and not available in many countries.- skywalker99
