Great reviews of at least three products! What a privilege to listen to music through a set up like that - well out of my reach, but if those lottery balls ever drop right...- HenHarrier

Cayin N6 DAP: Dual PCM1792 / Dual Mono / 24-192 / DSD128 / SACD ISO
@Andykong - re the 'popping' noise I'm getting with my N6 (see previous messages): I recently bought a headphone amp, and the odd sounds disappear when I'm using it. Clearly it's an issue with the N6's internal amp then. Could there be a long-term impact to the player? My N6 has been doing this...- HenHarrier

Just bought a used vorzuge pure ii off a fellow head fier and if I thought the GH1 was good before - oh, Wow! It hasn't changed the sound SIG in any way but is presumably better than the amp in the Cayin N6 (at the price of a new pure ii you would hope so anyway). A slightly bloomy bass has...- HenHarrier

Cayin N6 DAP: Dual PCM1792 / Dual Mono / 24-192 / DSD128 / SACD ISO
@Andykong - any further thoughts on the slight popping I hear when a track at the end of a folder finishes? I get a soft 'pop' sound at the end of the track and a second one as the N6 closes down at the end of a folder. Is no-one else getting this sound? It's not a major concern - at least I...- HenHarrier

I'm absolutely loving mine (with G cushions as others are saying). I'm not sure that it's a bad sign that there are some still in stock. If Grado made 1000 GH1 and there were still 900 in stock that would be surprising I guess, but even then it's not like they'll perish like fruit or...- HenHarrier

Cayin N6 DAP: Dual PCM1792 / Dual Mono / 24-192 / DSD128 / SACD ISO
Thanks Andy - like I say it's not a loud 'pop' but I would just add that it's not the headphones I'm using as it's the same whichever I try...it almost sounds like an old record player reaching the end of a disc and the needle lifting off the track- HenHarrier

Worked with me - I wanted them very badly! I've no complaints about the sound at all, but, yes, I agree they really could've shipped them with G cushions at surely not much dent in the bottom line...- HenHarrier

Grado GH-1 Discussion
I've been using G cushions on my GH 1 for a couple of weeks and started wondering last night whether I really could hear a difference or not from the stock cushions (and whether there is a slight congestion on some tracks with the G cushions because the bass is more present). Answer: absolutely...- HenHarrier

Cayin N6 DAP: Dual PCM1792 / Dual Mono / 24-192 / DSD128 / SACD ISO
@Andykong Just a quick question: when my N6 reaches the end of the last track in a folder there is a slight pop as it 'closes', the same just before the player reads the first track of a new folder. Is this normal? I had thought FW releases might fix it, but I'm using 3.1 and no change. It's not...- HenHarrier

That's what I meant really - these days just being a great product isn't always enough if you want to hold onto customers who may have to be careful how and where they spend their limited cash (I mean me, specifically not anyone else)...but I'm not a hi-fi manufacturer so what do I know about...- HenHarrier

Fair enough, you guys know more far more than me, I was just thinking about how I would 'spread the word' on behalf of Grado to people who don't buy into the minimalist (sparse) packaging and who see similar-costing headphones come with accessories...of course Grado is a business, of course they...- HenHarrier

Well, whoever it was - thanks! Okay, huge cushions just arrived and fitted - my wife says I look like a cyberman (Dr Who reference) - I don't know if its placebo effect (they're expensive I WANT the things to work) but immediate sense of larger soundstage and more airiness...and as added bonus I had to take GH1s off to...- HenHarrier

Reading all you folks posting about comparisons with other Grados, I don't know whether to be chuffed (you have that word in the US?) that my first Grados are the GH1s - or to feel that I'm missing out a little that my first Grados are the GH1s. I'm not complaining and I'm really, really glad I...- HenHarrier

I think I remember the trebles being a bit on the harsher side sometimes and the soundstage being a bit narrower when I first got the N6 - it still sounded great, very detailed, fast, and was just what I was after though.Having said that we all know equipment 'changes' the longer you listen -...- HenHarrier

Thanks. I wasn't really sure why they might differ from cheap cushions as I not seen them (grados, ear zonks, or chinese copies). I don't mind paying more if there are reasons for the cost, and better material and better shaping seem good enough reasons to me- HenHarrier

Is it possible, @sling5s, to say whether cushion material is relevant to that or is it that a larger cushion moves the driver away from the ear or changes isolation? I'm not being facetious (honestly!) just curious about whether only Grado-brand cushions would lead to such strong differences...- HenHarrier

Wow thanks for all of that info really appreciate it. I wonder whether ianyone has tried a Cayin amp with a Cayin dap and easy to drive hps like the GH1s, and whether that would give you more of the same only louder and a bit bigger - in which case not really worth the outlay? Really enjoying...- HenHarrier
