B&W C5 Series 2 - Worth the price of upgrade?
Never tried the original B&W C5, but the C5 Series 2 sounded very nice. I think most people misunderstood the tune of these buds. B&W tune this bud very well following the Target Response Curve, and it sounds really musical at low to mid volume. It's not fatigue, but gives you a nice punch at...- lister

Xiaomi Pistons 3.0 Impressions Thread
The Xiaomi Hybrids is a no go. I've heard that its sound is not well balanced. Even before I've read the reviews, I've already guessed so. The Dynamic driver + Balanced Arm in a small package is extremely difficult to design. And all that for only $18 USD? I don't think so. Xiaomi...- lister

Xiaomi Pistons 3.0 Impressions Thread
Just got the Xiaomi Piston 3 for $25 USD. So far, I'm pretty impressed with the quality-to-price ratio. You cannot compare this to the $200+ IEMs, it's just not in the same league. These are more like comparable to the $70 to $100 range IEMs. Overall sound signature reminds me of the...- lister

Symmetrical audio cable over single-wire cable
You're right. I didn't see that it's a three pin on the phones side. So it's common wire returning to the Amp. It would be quite interesting to do a listening test on the leakage between left and right (aside from relying on the test instrument), if there's a way to easily separate the L...- lister

Symmetrical audio cable over single-wire cable
Based on LCD-2 website, it stated "2.5m 1/4in to dual 4-pin mini-XLR cable". So yours didn't have the mini-XLR? I'm not saying is XLR on source/amp ends (1/4in), but at least it's dual symmetric with separate ground return on L&R channels. Yes, I do enjoy my music. But I also like to know...- lister

Symmetrical audio cable over single-wire cable
After reading more on the topic, there's actually a difference between 'Crosstalk' and 'Crossfeed'. MFG put lots of effort into customizing crossfeed with special active circuitry to mimic the timing, amplitude, and spacial difference. Whereas, crosstalk is an uncontrolled and unintentional...- lister

Symmetrical audio cable over single-wire cable
Dear all, I did find an article regarding crosstalk in headphones (from SOS)... http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/jul13/articles/qanda-0713-1.htm A quote from this article... "SOS Technical Editor Hugh Robjohns replies: Yes, this crosstalk issue is well known..." Isn't it absurd that...- lister

Symmetrical audio cable over single-wire cable
Thanks for sharing. If the experiment is done right, then it appears that the AKG K240 cabling is in good shape. Is it possible for you to share a picture of your experiment? Or a schematic sketch? Also, please note my responses above to Steve Eddy. I was not questioning XLR cables at...- lister

Symmetrical audio cable over single-wire cable
Pretty sure not a connection issue. I usually like to cross check my work with various setups (is redundancy the right word?). I've tried on Desktops, Laptops, as well as external DAC (Xonar Es one). The Eone has 'bridged' XLR outputs, but I don't have XLR phones, so too bad. By the way...- lister

Symmetrical audio cable over single-wire cable

Symmetrical audio cable over single-wire cable
Hi Steve, Thanks for posting with your experiment. I was trying to decode your experiment based on what you've said. I've sketched a schematic below. Please correct me if I'm wrong... My response is that, you have the right idea. But I never doubted the XLR setup. Although I... -
Symmetrical audio cable over single-wire cable
Anyone with comments? Anyone care about distortion created by the cabling? The cable is a big part in the signal path. You can have the perfect source, perfect Amp, perfect Headphones, and yet everything is ruined by the cable! -

Most newer earphones and most headphones comes in a form of single stereo cable. Just wanted to ask if anyone noticed the difference between Symmetrical cable versus single stereo cabling. Recently, I tested many earphones and found that there are serious cross talk between the left and...- lister

Earphones Recommendations
Did anyone realized that most earphones have serious L/R cross talk issues? A simple test is to play audio on either one of the channels (mute the other), but remove that channel from your ear at a distance (cover it with a pillow). You'd hear a tiny bit of sound on the other channel that was...- lister

FiiO X7 | DXD | DSD | 384K/64B | ESS9018+ Android | WiFi | Bluetooth | 4 AMP modules | Balanced Out |
Did anyone mentioned a 12V or 15V DAP? I have not seen any higher voltage DAP on the market. I would very much like a DAP with the power to rival the bigger External/USB DAC. High impedance HP requires more Vrms, otherwise they tend to under-perform/under-driven.- lister
