Folks, I have been using the TU-05 with Telefunken DF904 and Philips DL92 for 6 months now and it is pure beauty, delicacy but also great power, lot of weight when needed or and very deep bass. Really a killer combo. Add a MHDT Stockholm 2 (not portable) to this and this is an end of the game...

After hundred of hours, and in a research of the "perfect sound" for me, I replaced my beloved HERUS with a Non Over Sampling DAC from MHDT LAB: the Stockholm 2. With interesting results at first, particularely with timbres, I let the system improve and it did: after one hundred hours, as...

Small review of my Mullard (CV820 and CV785) experience on TU-05, compared to the original tubes  (original from A2P: 1U4 Raytheon from the US Army and 3S4 from General Electrics) which is a very good combo.   I was expecting a romantic personnality, but not at all: bass might be a little...

MHDT Labs: R-2R NOS Tube DACs

Just search for PCM56K on amazon: the provider's name is utsource.   Once you eliminate the defective chips, I confirm the PCM56K produces slightly better results than PCM56J: better treeble (more natural), better definition on complex signals

MHDT Labs: R-2R NOS Tube DACs

"How does the vibration travel through part of the chassis into the cone and not board onto the rest of the components?"   It does not completely, but it improves the situation: the sound of the Stockholm with the cones has more definition, it is sonically obvious. Ideally you are right...

MHDT Labs: R-2R NOS Tube DACs

Joel, I do not think they are fake, the factory seems to be the same as the original PCM56J I received with my MHDT. See photo.   Also, the technology needed to do a "fake" chip would be the same as doing right ones. And for the price it is sold and the number you can expect to deliver, it...

MHDT Labs: R-2R NOS Tube DACs

Hello everyone! I have my MHDT Stockholm 2 for a month and have few interesting information (I hope)   It definitely *needs* a break-in period of about a month. You might be disappointed when it is brand new.   A good power chord is a nice plus: I use a Wireworld Electra 7 Copper cable   I...

My turn to do tube rolling  I will test an all-Mullard solution and a Telefunken DF904 with Philips DL92. They are on their way.   Meanwhile, I received a MHDT Stockholm 2 DAC (R2R Non Oversampling and triode tube output). Pure beauty sound with the TU-05.   - chris

Few words about the design of a SET. When playing back music recorded with vacuum tube electronics, you notice a different dynamic character because of tube response. Subtle artist intonations are clearer and more pronounced, fostering a greater sense of realism and emotional connection to the...

I listen to classical music, jazz, pop, old jazz bands, great historical recordings from labels DECCA, CHANDOS, TELARC, NAXOS, PHILIPS, CHESKY. I regularely go to concert (classical). My "ideal" system would be portable and reproduce the sensations I have in a concert room. I will first...

    The Centrance HiFi M8 thread

I compared the M8 with the Senoressence Herus+ In this thread and the Chord Mojo is one step further compared to the Herus +: more air, more details, better coherence. However, the Herus has more weight and more body than the Chord. The M8 is playing in a different league.

I have a Centrance Hi-Fi M8 with EarSonics Velvet, using a printer cable that I just replaced by a totaldac d1, listening for Classical and Jazz from My Powerbook with PureMusic on it.     The totaldac d1 cable does not add anything to the music but presents everything with a little bit more...

Does using the TU-05 horizontaly increase the microphonic effects?   (TU-05 is expected for October)

    The Centrance HiFi M8 thread

I have been living with my Centrance M8 for two months and I think I can now give my opinion about it. I have a relatively good audiophile background, with tube amp (VTL) and loudspeakers (Magnepan, Sonus Faber) for about 20 years. Many classical concerts and jazz. I am new to headphones. All...

It should be fine then: UERM sensitivity is 112dB/mW while my EarSonics Velvet give 116dB/mW.

Thank you Daveyston! order for a TU-05 is sent. What about the power? 40mW+40mW is not very much.   I will associate a detailed and neutral DAC like a Senoressence Herus. Such a marriage should give very good results. The USB cable is a Totaldac D1.

Hi everybody! sorry if this has been treated previously: I woud like to know if the TU-05 is a good match for 40 ohms IEM? (EarSonics Velvet).   - chris

    The Centrance HiFi M8 thread

I wanted a very good USB cable in the ~$100-$200 budget for my Centrance. The AudioQuest Carbon was the firt on my list, and iFi Mercury USB Cable but after a research, I eventually ordered a TotalDAC d1 : pricey than what I was looking for, but according to some, the very best USB cable money...

The 250 Ohms impedance is not a problem for the Centrance and you should enjoy your music with plenty of power and slam. Sound caracteristics are neutral for both device, so this is what you should expect.

    The Centrance HiFi M8 thread

In my opinion, this is neither a bright or warm sounding amp. It is neutral and analytic. I use it with a pair of EarSonics Velvet, that can be warm sounding when connected to an iPhone. When connected to the Centrance, the Velvet loses its warmness, the sound is tight and incredibly extended to...
