Grado GH-1 Discussion
One of my pair of GH1's are 4L and 4R and the other is (I think) 38L and 38R. Ironically, the 38's are the pair I purchased first and the 4's are the second pair.- pickerdd

Grado RS1e matters (and impressions)
Same here. I had a pair with protruding drivers last year and I sold them about trying to burn them in for better frequency response. No joy. Off to eBay they went.- pickerdd

Grado RS1e matters (and impressions)
After about 50 hours of burn-in the top end above 4k (ride cymbals, etc...) has opened up nicely in the RS1e. They sound considerably better with the G-cushions. They are not as bright as the GH1's, but really really nice. The mids have cleaned up some, but are not as clear and transparent as...- pickerdd

Grado RS1e matters (and impressions)
update. I tried the G cushions on the RS1e's with my desktop setup (jriver media center playing flacs, bifrost uber and an asgard 2) and my better setup (oppo 105D, MAD Ear + HD playing the same flacs from an external hard drive). The G cushions take away some of the congested mids I've been...- pickerdd

Grado RS1e matters (and impressions)
I have about 30 hours on mine and the mids are starting to smooth out. They are still somewhat congested and not as much definition as I would like, but they are progressing. I looking forward to hearing them with another 20 or 30 hours on them. I'm pleased with the progression so far.- pickerdd

Grado RS1e matters (and impressions)
My PS1000e's were pretty darn good out of the box and have improved a lot over the past year. I have around 100 hours on them. They are a little more balanced than the GH1's with more mid-range, but still great clarity. The bass isn't as deep as the GH1, but it has improved since I bought them...- pickerdd

Grado RS1e matters (and impressions)
Now see, you have me very hopeful... I played an assortment of stuff through the RS1e's over night (about 15 hours worth) at a quiet volume through my Aasgard (on "high output) with the volume about 8 o'clock. That's the volume I use for my PS1000's. Anyway, I can hear an improvement in...- pickerdd

Grado RS1e matters (and impressions)
So, initial impression is they are all midrange and very little bottom end or top end. Almost a crunchy sound. I have 60 days to return them, so I'll run through 30 - 40 hours of music over the next week and see how they progress. The GH1's sounded great out of the box. These don't. They also...- pickerdd

Grado GH-1 Discussion
I agree. I hear very few similarities between the PS500e and the GH1. I had a pair of PS500e's for the past year and recently sold them after comparing them to my GH1's. To my ears the PS500e's have a muddy midrange with reduced highs and accentuated low end whereas the GH1's have very clear...- pickerdd

Grado RS1e matters (and impressions)
I am really looking forward to hearing the new RS1's. My enthusiasm is definitely tempered by my previous experience but I am hopeful. It was my first Grado headphone and when i realized it stunk, I sold it and almost didn't buy another Grado headphone. In my typical "go big or go home" fashion...- pickerdd

Grado RS1e matters (and impressions)
It's my favorite Grado headphone so I bought one for the office that I also use when traveling. I keep the first pair I bought a couple months ago at home. I try to hide it because my wife loves it and has tried to swipe it! Lol- pickerdd

Grado RS1e matters (and impressions)
Dangit... I hate it when I get curious and bored... It always costs me money and when it's around you folks it tends to be a lot of money. I just ordered a pair of new RS1e's from Crutchfield. They have a 60 day return policy, so if I don't like them pretty quick they are going back. My...- pickerdd

Grado RS1e matters (and impressions)
I'm curious as to serial numbers on the RS-1e's that have the recessed or correctly placed drivers in the cup with proper frequency response. I bought one in March of 2015 with extended drivers and no bass and terrible trebles. I sold it in June of 2015. Terrible sounding thing. - David- pickerdd

Grado GH-1 Discussion
I received my pair of GH-1's about 2 weeks ago. Really, really nice headphones. Joseph, yes, I have tried the G cups with the GH-1's and they are exactly as you mentioned. Thanks for the recommendation! I have compared the GH-1's with my PS-500e's, RS-1's (with buttons) and my PS-1000e's...- pickerdd

You all are costing me too much dang money... MAD Ear + HD arrived today. MH - I upgraded the 12AX7 as you advised to a Sylvania black plate triple mica. More output and a punchier sound with the PS1000e's. This little thing really makes the PS1000e's really get up and boogie. The RS1's sound...- pickerdd

Worms, may I ask where you found the case? Is it deep enough for the RS1's without squashing the cushions? The case I bought from the grado folks for my PS500e's is too thin for the RS1's. Thanks, David- pickerdd

I bought the other pair from LPGear at the beginning of July. When I contacted them and asked if the RS1's were new or used, so they sent photos and they were the real deal. I was skeptical until I received them, but they were indeed NOS. stacker45, if you received the better looking pair then...- pickerdd
