The Sennheiser HD580 Impressions Thread
I think what has impressed me the most about these, is not only are they the most enjoyable audio experience I've had yet, but I purchased them for mixing my own productions, and after about an hour of listening to released tunes to get a feel for them, I went back to a production I'm currently...- blanemurphy

The Sennheiser HD580 Impressions Thread
Just so you know I believe that the HD 580 is quite a bit better than the 598. Correct me if I'm wrong people but the 598 is quite a lesser model I believe. And also when I said earlier that it didn't get loud enough through the moto x I hadn't given much time. I've been listening all night with...- blanemurphy

The Sennheiser HD580 Impressions Thread
I don't have much experience here but i just bought the HD580 today for a few dollars cheaper than you and I'm blown away. They sound great out of my macbook and they even sound good out of my Moto X, yet they don't get quite loud enough from the moto x. I believe that an iPod would drive them a...- blanemurphy

The Sennheiser HD580 Impressions Thread
I got the HD580s today. I have been listening to music on them all day and I'm in love. Im using them straight out of the macbook and to me they sound better than any headphone I've ever used. I hear people saying that they are too bright compared to the 600s and 650s. I think these are perfect...- blanemurphy

The Sennheiser HD580 Impressions Thread
Perhaps my ear needs a little time to be retrained after being out of production for a while. I have been listening to music for enjoyment on mostly my eph100s and EP1s for the past year or so. Maybe I just need to reaclimate to a more neutral sound. I still think I'm going to grab the...- blanemurphy

The Sennheiser HD580 Impressions Thread
Hi everyone. i have the opportunity to buy these hd580s tomorrow, used for a good price from a neighbor, and i was wondering how they would do if driven straight from my 2015 retina macbook pro. I'm sure they would be best with a amp, but i don't have enough cash to buy both the headphones and...- blanemurphy

Yamaha EPH-100
definitely post back after you get some time with them. from what i hear its definitely going to be quite a different signature than the dunu. at first the yams can sound a bit veiled since they are a warm signature. but once you give them a few minutes and listen to some tracks you know well...- blanemurphy

Yamaha EPH-100
If you listen to edm then the yamahas are fantastic. As far as female vocals go, they are good. not great but good. overall though these iems are great. the reason i say the vocals aren't great is because there is a little bit of a lack of sparkly texture to the vocals. but again you would...- blanemurphy

Yamaha EPH-100
I have also had the issue with the left and/or right channels going out. Its cause by moisture. I live in a hunid area in the southeast USA and sometimes if I walk outside on a hot day and then come back inside the cool house, condensation will immediately build up in the driver and make the...- blanemurphy

I know this is an old reply to your post but I managed to fit some complys on the ehp 100. I was having to useeither the medium large or the largest but never got a truely satisfying deep seal. I had a few pairs of comply tips that came with the RBH EP1 iems I have and I managed to force them on...- blanemurphy

Recommendations for IEMs for electronic music (mostly EDM) ~$200 Budget
For under 200 you should most definitely grab the Yamaha EPH 100 which is 130. Its absolutely fantastic for the price. Seriously you will not be disappointed. You will hear every little detail in edm. Also I've heard the Dunu DN 1000 is even better and its $190. I haven't tried it yet because...- blanemurphy

RBH EP2 -- are these really "the best $200 earphones"?
These iems actually are vocal forward to an extent. They have a pretty strong emphasis in the 2k-6k region so you shouldn't need to eq for added vocal presence. Maybe you mean vocal body though and in that case they do dip a little from 200-1k so maybe boost the mid to lower mids in that area?- blanemurphy

RBH EP2 -- are these really "the best $200 earphones"?
I have heard these. I currently own them. They have a very meaty bass line. And a strong emphasis in the 2k and 5k area. With a metalic texture in the treble. They aren't as detailed as my eph100s in the mids or treble yet they are much brighter sounding than the eph100. Also they have a meatier...- blanemurphy

Best IEM for Trance -2014 edition -Now keeping track in the OP!
Yes I love will Atkinson as well. I'm not a huge fan of victims, but his track on FSOE called "eternally" is a favorite. Also his remix of "Breathe" by john O'Callaghan is freaking fantastic. One of my favorite organic sounding proglifting tracks. And yes mark sherry is great. I like his remixes...- blanemurphy

Best IEM for Trance -2014 edition -Now keeping track in the OP!
You must hear suckleys contaminated all way through. Its truely amazing the sounds he uses and the power of his tracks. I'm a producer as well so I listen to trance a little more critically that the typical person but that track contaminated, and really all his newer stuff is just out of this...- blanemurphy

Best IEM for Trance -2014 edition -Now keeping track in the OP!
I think they are great but for some reason I've enever been into their particular sound of uplifting. I thought the sillohettes remix a few years ago was great though. Yamaha EPH-100
I just suffered the moisture issue today. It was humid out in north Carolina today and I went out with them on to have a smoke and when I came back inside and sat down all of a sudden the right ear dropped about 90%. I took it out and sure enough it was a bit wet on the grill. I never have wet...- blanemurphy

Thanks for that!!!! The graph on the new moto x looks better actually so I should be safe there. Now just to find the impedance of the phone.
