Dap upgrade with a Chord Mojo
With Tidal support ending on the AK300 it’s time for me to upgrade my DAP. I am torn between the A&K Norma Sr 25 and the A&K Futura Sr 180. The issue I have is I use a Chord Mojo with UE 18+ when travelling and Sennheiser HDVD 800 with HD 800 headphones (balanced) when at home Will there be...- NoAlCastor

Ahh ok that is understandable. I would have thought MQA would have simply licenced the decoding technology- NoAlCastor

Does the Mojo allow for user firmware upgrades? If so is there ever likely to be an update to allow full MQA decoding?- NoAlCastor

TIDAL is coming to Astell&Kern players!
I see there a couple of DAP/Streamers that support MQA. I wonder is it theoretically possible on the AK 300 series. Offline mode is unlikely but is at least possible- NoAlCastor

TIDAL is coming to Astell&Kern players!
Using an AK300 with Tidal for a few months now and whilst enjoying it just have a few complaints. 1. Lack of offline mode, not a deal breaker but would be a very handy addition for travelling. 2. Sleep mode not working in Tidal is very annoying. Hopefully will be sorted in next update...- NoAlCastor

Bose QC35 Wireless Noise-Cancelling Headphones
Went to demo a pair of these today and picked up an unusual issue. I paired them via Bluetooth to my AK JR and they sounded nice but not spectacular on the initial songs I tested. However when I tried to play anything with a sample rate above 96khz there was an audible noise in the left ear cup...- NoAlCastor

The Astell and Kern AK240 Impressions Thread
Quick question. I noticed in an article earlier today that it was said the 240 comes with a 192/24 version of a Corrs album (In blue i think the article said). I was just wondering if that was true and if it was is there anywhere else to get it? `Just got an AK Jr and would like to test it...- NoAlCastor

Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread
I have the Sennheiser HDVD 800 amp/dac which I believe is capable of balanced output. Difficulty I have is that I am completely useless with my hands and there's no where for 100 miles that has any clue on headphones.- NoAlCastor

Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread
I have a Marantz Na 6005 connected via optical for streaming or a Fiio x3 using coaxial as a source going into a HDVD 800. From that I use a set of HD 650 to listen to a lot of different 24/192 Rock and folk tracks. Will I notice much improve if I get a balanced cable (up to about $250) for...- NoAlCastor

Astell & Kern Junior (AK Jr.) Impressions Thread
Couple of quick questions. I have an x3 Mark ii currently that I use in two ways. Firstly I use it on the go with either phonak 232, b&o h3 (don't judge me I think they are very underrated) or Shure 535. More often though I use the x3 as a source and use the line out via the coaxial adapter to...- NoAlCastor

Well the headphone zone is the area I'm most concerned about. I have a Play 1, Play 5 and ZP 120 in other rooms but I am happy using Spotify on them as they are used more for parties and/or my partner.- NoAlCastor

The biggest issue is my partner she doesn't like clutter and wires. The zero Dac sits on the bottom shelf of a Bedside locker for lack of a better description the ZP 90 underneath the shelves. My comfy reading chair infront. There's no room to set a laptop unfortunately. I want something I can...- NoAlCastor

Streaming hi res music
I am really not explaining myself well. Currently my router, has and play 5 are in the green room, the ZP 90 and Zero Dac are in the blue room where I do most of my listening and its not practical to have a laptop there hence the presence of the ZP90. The laptop and HDVD 800 are being tested...- NoAlCastor

Sorry yes to avoid confusion the set-up is NAS is connected via ethernet to a Airport Extreme router in a bedroom, the Play 5 is connected to the same router also via ethernet. The Zp90 is in another room and (as I understand it) is connected to the Play 5 using Sonos proprietary Mesh network...- NoAlCastor
