Up for sale is a brand new Front face panel for a Wells Audio Headtrip Headphone amp. Cost me $110 plus shipping. It’s still in wraps and have only been inspected to ensure no scratches. Was going to install this on my Headtrip since it had a few scratches on the faceplate. Jeff Wells said it’s...

Wells Audio Milo - Impressions And Discussion Thread

I had the Headtrip and sent it to you for the HT reference upgrade a few years ago.

Wells Audio Milo - Impressions And Discussion Thread

I’ve communicated with Jeff in the past. He IS a nice guy and I believe an honest one. This is not in question. It was the design choice at this price level. Your Apple phone comparison isn’t valid because as technology changes, so does the newer models. My point was that an external power...

Wells Audio Milo - Impressions And Discussion Thread

So those of us who bought the $15k Headtrip Reference (Level 2) with internal power supplies sort of got screwed? For that kind of money, this is a big oversight to not have included an outboard power supply knowing that it’s the best solution for noise elimination. It’s not like outboard power...

I had the Milo and still have my lcd-3. They play well together with no issues.

These are a pair of the gold pin version of the JJ tube that are matched, balanced and high gain that I paid extra for. These were my backup pair. The 803s tubes are 12ax7 tubes with long plates. These throw a large soundstage with excellent bass punch. Nicely extended high end with nice...

Wells Audio Milo - Impressions And Discussion Thread

I had a weird issue like this on one channel when I owned my Milo. Turned out that it didn’t like my cell phone being located next to it. I realized that my phone would sit next to it on its charger. On a hunch, I moved the phone and issue went away. Not sure if this is same noise you hear, it...

Thanks for chiming in, Jeff. Thoughts on Dragon 3 vs HT reference (aka level 2)?

Wells Audio Milo - Impressions And Discussion Thread

Sadly, I think Jeff himself would’ve chimed in by now had he thought the Headtrip(s) were clearly better. This would’ve given some comfort to those of us that have spent $7k or $15k for the HT. Whatever differences there are, I’d like to hear from him what those differences are between the...

Has anyone compared the Dragon 3 to the Headtrip 2 or Headtrip 2, level2?

No pops but static between volume settings. But all my headphone are not very efficient, like HE-6 and LCD-4. I wonder if I’d hear loud popping should I ever get higher efficiency headphones.

So my 2018 $15k Headtrip Reference has a less than ideal volume pot?

Rank the Headphones that You Own.

They’re made by Beyer Dynamics. I’ve listened to them on several occasions. I tried to like them but just couldn’t.

    Audeze LCD-4

I didn’t get that. I didn’t feel that any of the lcd-4 magic was diminished. It’s still all there on my 2016 set. Prior to the 2021 pads, I had installed the 2019 pads. They didn’t have the felt spacer or half moon spacers, but instead had what looks like a rubber ring around the outer portion...

    Audeze LCD-4

The new ear pads have the felt spacer and glue already attached to the ear pads. They also come with half moon spacers that flank the drivers. These are meant to control resonance. Its an easy process to change out the old for new on the lcd-4. All their pads now come with the spacers attached...

    Audeze LCD-4

I bought them directly from Audeze online. $80 for a pair. Half moon spacer are included. These are now used for all of their lcd2, 2c, 3, 4 , 4z, x and xc headphones. I bought an extra set for my lcd-3f and they made a significant difference for the better for that headphone too.

    Audeze LCD-4

I too do not EQ. When I said “more bite” I meant it in the best of ways and it’s a subtle benefit. The new pads do no harm at all to all those positive attributes that we all love about the LCD-4s. The new pads only subtly enhance those attributes. Removing the old pads and installing the new...

    Audeze LCD-4

No graphs or measurements, just my ears. I’ve been listening to my lcd -4 with the original pads for several years now and when I changed to the new pads, I heard the differences right away. Nothing dramatic, but still significant. With the new pads, they sound more open without losing any...

    Audeze LCD-4

The Lcd-5 is not an evolution of the Lcd-4. Its a different approach in sound signature, weight and materials. I didn’t buy my lcd4s because of their speed or hyper detail. I bought them for their lush romantic, rich and creamy sound while providing superb resolution. With the LCD-4, I do not...

    Audeze LCD-4

Wells Audio amps for me have performed the best with the lcd-4, but on a smaller budget, I was surprised how well the Pathos Aurium performed with my lcd-4s! It’s about 1.3w into 32 ohms I believe, vs 25w into 32 ohms for my Wells Audio Headtrip level 2 amp. But beyond that, the Pathos sounds...

    Audeze LCD-4

For those who are look g for clarification as to the purpose of the felt spacers in out LCD-4/4z headphones, here is Audezes’s response. “Sorry, please disregard my previous message as it was not completely right. Back in early 2020, we changed the adhesive on our earpads to a slightly raised...
