I copied some AudioBooks directly to the device and as I suspected, they do not remember the last position if you go to another track and come back.  I believe there would have to be some sort of database stored on the device so it could respect the meta tag that says "Remember playback...

Just in case anyone is reading this thread:   Ford Sync requires M3U playlists to be in the root directory of the device.  So if you're using Dapper you cannot choose to put all of the Dapper playlists and/or files into a specific folder.  If you do, playlists may show up on your Ford Sync but...

  The X1 (and this firmware) support AAC--as do most DAPs these days.  No player aside from Apple's iOS products can play Protected AAC.
