Yes - I tried with teh internal EQ on the piano, but it doesnt seem to do much, I also tried cutting down the bass on the other headphones as well and still no good -    I thought about adding an extrenal eq, but I kind of wanted to just plug and play.. 

Also - they do not need to be closed back phones - im good with opens as well. Id also consider in ear phones too if I can find a pair comfrotable enough.

Soundmagic look interesting    Ive heard some mix reviews on the m50's - i hear they can be a bit bass heavy. I wish there was somewhere I can test these...
