Little Dot I+ Tube Rolling
I tried it and it sounds good! Not sure if the improvement is due to the DAC the amp is running through or the amp (I previously had the speaker system going through the internal audio on the computer). I do want to emphasize that I am using this as a pre-amp and not a speaker amp. The...- Zeejet

Little Dot I+ Tube Rolling
Thanks for your thoughts although I sense that you were offended by my assertion that Chinese vendors are generally peddlers of false wares. I've always been paranoid about counterfeits from China and after buying from a vendor with inflated seller rating, I swore off Chinese sellers...- Zeejet

Little Dot I+ Tube Rolling
Do you guys trust Chinese electronics dealers on eBay? I have heard many nightmare stories about fake parts being sold from China with no repercussions. And by that I mean negative reviews do not affect them since they generate fake accounts to boost feedback and offset negative reviews (this is...- Zeejet

Review by 'Zeejet' on item 'Little Dot I+'
The Little Dot line of headphone amps represent what is possible when a Chinese production amp doesn't cut corners on build quality and engineering. This amp has my vote as the best desktop hybrid amp in the price range. Build/Design The build quality is very solid; the housing is all...- Zeejet

I'm also rocking the 250Ohm DT880s for my home setup! It's being driven by a LD I+ w/ Voshkhod tubes and sounds very nice at the mid/entry level price range. As for close cans, I am using an ATH-M50x at work driven by a modded Bravo V2.- Zeejet

Review by 'Zeejet' on item 'Bravo Audio Tube Amplifier - V2'
The Bravo V2 is an attractive and inexpensive "pseudo-tube/hybrid" amp that is easily accessible to beginner DIYers if modifications are desired (which they definitely are as I will expand on later). I'll review both the stock unit as well as modified amp although the star rating is for the...- Zeejet

Bravo V2 - Review, Tube Rolling, Mods (coming soon)
Thanks for the reply! I got some more wisdom from rockgrotto forums about the LEDs. The blue one can be shorted to turn it off (or replaced with another color), but the red has a forward voltage that is relevant to the circuit. If you can find a way to replicate that forward voltage, you could...- Zeejet

Looking for a good closed over-ear headphone under $150
Thanks for the suggestion, but without many Head-Fi or other Audiophile reviews (most people on Amazon have no idea what they are talking about) on the Yamaha's I'm hesitant to purchase them. I need it to be a closed headphone for work (can't have sound leakage).- Zeejet

Looking for a good closed over-ear headphone under $150
I'm seeking recommendations for a closed over-ear headphone under $150. I am planning to use it with a modded Bravo V2 tube amp and a Creative X-Fi Go! (cheap computer USB DAC). I plan to use this as my setup at work. I listen a wide range of genres but mainly electronic, hip-hop, classic...- Zeejet

Bravo V2 - Review, Tube Rolling, Mods (coming soon)
I know this is an old thread, but I just got one and planning to mod. I did the crosstalk mod since it was the simplest and did not notice any drop in noise at high volumes (although the noise was never that bad at listening levels to begin with). I'm completely new to this and have no...- Zeejet

Little Dot Tube Amps: Vacuum Tube Rolling Guide
Is this pretty universally agreed upon? It seems like hocus pocus to me (like expensive cables or high-end op-amp rolling). I did notice burn-in affecting my GE JAN 5654W's but it only took 5-6 hours. How can another tube take almost 100 hours? Also, here is a noob question: do I need to be...- Zeejet

Little Dot Tube Amps: Vacuum Tube Rolling Guide
Beyer 880 DT Pro. THe GE JAN 5654W's are a lot smoother in tone while the Voshkhods can sound shrill in the highs (even if they do seem to extend further). Also, Voshkhod 6J1P-EV's are dirt cheap from what I can tell (anywhere between $3-15 per pair), but so are GE JAN's.- Zeejet

Little Dot Tube Amps: Vacuum Tube Rolling Guide
I currently own pairs of Voshkhod 6J1P-EV from 1978, GE JAN 5654W from1988 (I think), and WE 408A. I have not tried the WE 408A's yet but I was disappointed by the Voshkhods, which seem to be universally lauded here. I found them harsh and weak on low end. The GE JAN 5654W's were far...- Zeejet

Review by 'Zeejet' on item 'Sennheiser HD 280 Headphones'
I've owned two pairs of these over the last 10 years (one channel on the first pair died) and I've used them without an amp or any knowledge of audio electronics. Essentially, they were the first pair of decent headphones I've experienced prior to entering the world of HiFi only recently. ...- Zeejet
