Just wanted to share that I slapped some TH-610 stock pads onto my TH900mk2's and it, without a doubt, helped tame the excessive highs that was bothering me. It wasn't like I was reaching for the EQ on every track, but maybe 10% of them. Not bothered EQ'ing away the highs now with these 610...

I agree. I'm running the TH900 mkII with the Violectric stack, which pairs well. To me, it's obvious that the TH900 have a recessed midrange. But it's not by a huge amount. On 9 out of 10 tracks, it doesn't even cross my mind. And on that 1 out of 10 tracks, I do wish it had a tad bit more...

I have the V850 DAC and running Windows 10 (with latest updates). I've never once had this problem. I installed the USB drivers for the V850 found on Violectric's site; Violectric 24/192 Microsoft XMOS .A small application is added to windows on startup, the pink little Violectric icon found...

Hi! First, congrats on your th900 pair (and for a good price too). Im considering the shure se846. How would you compare these to the th900? Clarity & bass just as good or even better? Im guessing the se846 soundstage is smaller?

Hi.   Got my TH900mk2's this week, and I'm loving them! I'm running them on the Violectric stack and they sound fantastic. I don't find the highs too harsh, nor the mids recessed (they're just not the main focus), and I find the bass amazing! Thanks to all of you who recommended this...

Thanks for the insight Guidostrunk. Out of curiousity, which tubes did you get and how did they change the character of the sound?

Oh no, a schiity noob question;   Is the Lyr 2, being a hybrid tube amp, suitable for fast-paced music such as electronica (read: a lot of drums, and bass melodies), or would a SS amp, such as Asgaard 2, cope better with such faster music?   If not, could tube rolling resolve this?

Im still having trouble deciding over asgaard 2 or lyr 2 (to be paired with 560 HP's). Given a nice set of tubes, how much warmer and detailed will the lyr 2 sound? The price difference suggests a noticable difference. Who has experience of both?

Thanks Matt. I'm leaning towards the Lyr2. Any russian tubes in particular you can recommend which really brings out the bass? Price range $50-$100.
