I'm not sure about prices in your country but I'd honestly go with Modi 3 if you're going Schiit amp anyways. If Topping is a lot cheaper, sure go with that.

If your preference is toward Schiit get a Modi 3, keep the Magni 3 and try out either Sonarworks or the free Oratory1990 EQ with APO / Peace GUI. Try that out for a while and take it from there - would be my recommendation :)

DT150 fits your description although they do require an amplifier. As it is with most headphones, some people find them comfortable and some don't.

If you feel like HD800 needs "taming" I'd suggest skipping it and go with the HD800S or something else instead.

While I generally find HD650 to be smooth I don't think they are as much as some people make them out to be. The upper mids and grain is a limiting factor - at least for me.
