    Pioneer XDP-300R | Twin DAC ES9018K2M | Balanced Out | Android | MQA | 2x MicroSD | WiFi | AptX

The tracks I am looking at are available as DXD or DSD. Which would the 300R play better, the DXD or DSD 256? I use it with uAPP to play via headphones.

    Pioneer XDP-300R | Twin DAC ES9018K2M | Balanced Out | Android | MQA | 2x MicroSD | WiFi | AptX

Will this device play Dxd files? The specs don't explicitly mention Dxd, but the PCM sample rates it handles include those used for Dxd.

USB Audio Player PRO (UAPP): 24- and 32-bit playback, ubiquitous USB audio support for Android

I have an issue with UAPP's handling of metadata in dsf files. The composer field isn't read. If I look at the file in mp3tag (on my PC) the composer field is read correctly, but UAPP shows nothing. This is on a Pioneer XDP 300R. The built in player on the Pioneer also reads the composer...

USB Audio Player PRO (UAPP): 24- and 32-bit playback, ubiquitous USB audio support for Android

A few weeks ago I noticed that when I viewed the library by composers, each composer was shown with a stack of his/her albums. But with the latest version of the app this doesn't seem to happen. Was I imagining the previous behavior, or am I doing something wrong now, or has the app changed how...

Pioneer's new TOTL Closed Back SE-Monitor 5 headphones

I finally bought a pair of these headphones. First I listened to them with a Pioneer XDP 300R, with the balanced cable, and I was a bit disappointed by the subdued sound. Then I moved onto my Earmax SE, and the sound was more dynamic. Not sure if this was just due to the volume being set lower...

    Pioneer XDP-300R | Twin DAC ES9018K2M | Balanced Out | Android | MQA | 2x MicroSD | WiFi | AptX

I've played with the settings of UAPP, and now I can set Internal audio driver HiRes Direct, and get clear audio through the headphones. The setting which got things working is HiRes driver audio format = 32-bit float. This was previously set (by default) to Auto.

    Pioneer XDP-300R | Twin DAC ES9018K2M | Balanced Out | Android | MQA | 2x MicroSD | WiFi | AptX

I have this issue too.If Internal audio driver is set to original Android, the sound through the phones is fine, but if I select HiRes Direct, there is white noise.

    Pioneer XDP-300R | Twin DAC ES9018K2M | Balanced Out | Android | MQA | 2x MicroSD | WiFi | AptX

Looking at the manual for the XDP300R, it does say that DSD files are "converted to PCM for playback on the main device", which suggests to me that native DSD playback isn't happening on this device.

    Pioneer XDP-300R | Twin DAC ES9018K2M | Balanced Out | Android | MQA | 2x MicroSD | WiFi | AptX

When I play a track in the Music app, the display shows two formats, the original track format, and the output format. What exactly is the output format? The user manual is vague on this point. Is it what would be output from the USB socket? Is it what is fed into the XDP-300R's DAC? When I...

    Pioneer XDP-300R | Twin DAC ES9018K2M | Balanced Out | Android | MQA | 2x MicroSD | WiFi | AptX

I am puzzled why Pioneer chose to make the cheaper 5 model balanced and the more expensive 9 model single ended. Bizarre.

    Pioneer XDP-300R | Twin DAC ES9018K2M | Balanced Out | Android | MQA | 2x MicroSD | WiFi | AptX

So, I have downloaded some DSD files, which have a DFF file extension. When I look at these files in the X DAP Link program, the metadata for the tracks is visible, but when I put the files on the 300R DAP, it just shows the filenames without any metadata. I didn't think DFF files held any...

Pioneer's first DAP, the XDP-100R announced in IFA

Does the xdp-100 r support version 1.4 of the Bluetooth AVRCP protocol? FWIW this allows a car audio system to browse the device's files via Bluetooth. I know a lot of Android devices don't support v1.4 of AVRCP.

    NJC Monitor II

I use this amp with a pair of AKG 701s, and it sounds good to me.   Google NJC Monitor Review, and you should find a review of the NJC amp used with 702 phones.   Mark S

    Amp for K701

Thanks to all for your suggestions. I do have an urge to scratch the solid state itch, just to see how the OTL Earmax compares.   Are the K701s as difficult to drive as they are reputed to be? The review in Stereophile suggested they presented a benign load to an amp.

    Amp for K701

I have a pair of K701s that I currently power with an Earmax Pro.   Has anyone compared the Earmax Pro with the Earmax Silver Edition in the context of K701s? The Brocksieper website suggests that the Eamax SE would be better suited to the K701's lowish impedance.   Or should I consider...

    AKG K701 is now here!

Hi, my first post... Have lurked for a while, and read a lot of useful info here - thanks. I recently got an Earmax Pro to drive an old pair of AKG K240 Monitor 'phones. I find the sound a bit dull and shut in, and am considering getting the K701s to liven things up. But I'm concerned that...
