Are there any sonic differences between the rosewood variant and bamboo variant? Or is it purely for aesthetics?

Thank you for the detailed response for a novice like me.   I am receiving tons of help from headfi today!   I am not sure if I do any critical listening.. I listen to classical, modern classical? (2cello, piano guys), and pop. Every music file I have are 320kbps--no flac.

From this thread, I am understanding that HD600>650?

I don't have an amp or dac yet, should I start with the ubers?   I will be using either Sennheiser HD600s or HD650s. I have not yet decided on what headphones to purchase.

OK!!!   The thing about the $300 is kind of iffy. I technically pay $500 for the headphones and $200 gift card to Amazon. 

I can't decide whether I want to purchase the HD600 or the HD650. I assume I can get them for $250/$300 respectively.   Regarding my sound preference, I like the sound signature of the Shure SE535LTDs. 

Thanks for the response!   Do you think I should pull the trigger on them if I am able to get them for $300? My current over ear headphones are Sennheiser Momentum 1s. Which I got for $350 when they first released.....
