That's interesting about the paper disk. I had mine from the factory and when I replaced my earpads ~8 months ago I added them without thinking. I have always been amazed w ith the clarity of these headphones, but I'll have to see what they sound like with them removed. 

I've been listening to my 560 IIs with a little EQ bump at 80hz, kind of helps out when listening to certain types of music. Edited because my original post didn't make any sense lol
