Etymotic Research EVO impressions and discussion thread

Thanks. I realized I had only one pair of those tips on me, probably from the sample pack when I bought my Evo, and wanted to get more.

Is this the XL-sized double flange tip? https://addictedtoaudio.co.nz/cdn/shop/files/2_dde51624-6697-497a-b647-c57abe764585_1920x.jpg

Say, can I get links for the wallpaper in the photo, and however you got the home screen in that manner?

    Best sounding small DAP?

The M300 can be a “pure audio device.” Who says you need to stream with it? Speaking as someone who owns one, it sounds great for what it is. I don’t stream on it. I keep the antennas off.

Can you elaborate on this? You're saying that the M300 can be a USB DAC? Or you enabled the A&K's DAC mode and connected via USB-C to it?

Random question: can the M300 stream via Chromecast? I'd test this myself if I did have a Chromecast, but nope...

How are the Beats Flex-like Bluetooth adapters?

Thanks for chiming in. I'll take that into consideration.

How are the Beats Flex-like Bluetooth adapters?

Would you say it's a choice between really bad and bad, or bad and passable/good?

How are the Beats Flex-like Bluetooth adapters?

I’m referring to products that don’t have a solid tube of plastic that sits on your collarbone. Rather, on Ali, there is a bunch of what are basically battery-attached earphone cables, and they resemble the Beats Flex or some of Jaybird’s older models before they went fully TWS. There are TRN...

True, though I do have a (minor) convenience to share thanks to USB C. I have a pair of Final Audio E5000, a pair of IEMs that seemingly require amping despite what its spec sheet says. The buds have been attached to a balanced cable since I've gotten them, and it's far quicker to use a...

Good read, and I agree with pretty much everything, except the TWS only because I don't own a Sony pair, so I can't agree nor disagree. If you ever want to return to your review, I think it might be worth pointing out how you can connect external USB-C DACs to it and get balanced output if...

I don't think anyone's mentioned this so far: There's an M300 case being sold on AliExpress at the moment. Transparent or translucent TPU.

Probably, and by that logic, setting the master volume to a fixed value of some sort, while making the user fiddle with the media volume instead.

I noticed something interesting when using a USB-C DAC with the M300. I plugged a JCAlly JM6-4 4.4mm balanced-USB C DAC to the M300, and started playing music. Sounds can be heard without issue, so that's fine. What I found surprising is that in the sound and vibration section of Android...

HiBy R3 II--new and improved: physical volume knob, 4.4mm balanced out, increased power

Probably a stupid question, but how do I make playlists compatible for the R3 II? I made playlists in MediaMonkey and copied them over, along with my library, but none of them work. Edit: Found a solution. I placed the playlists in the folder right above my music folder. My playlist entries...

Bullet earphones shaped like Etymotic or Final Audio E, or circular ones like BGVP, but with 2-pin and bass-light sound?

Title. I'd like to use this for meetings, and attach them to the Celest IEM mic. Budget: say, $200 max.

    Earbuds Round-Up

So...I dunno if anyone has done this and shared it here, as I haven't been here in quite some time, but I finally got around to my modding experiment with the FiiO FF1, specifically the proprietary-lookalike cables. Not the neatest job, but enough to plug cables in, and make this possible: I...

HibyMusic Android and iOS Music Player - Bit-perfect USB Output; Network and Dropbox Streaming

Is there a reason why the iOS HiBy music app cannot be downloaded? I try searching in the App Store and it doesn’t show up, and then when I search on Google, it shows up but then there’s a warning that says it isn’t available in my country. I tried accessing with a US and a KR account and...

Somewhat off-topic, but I'm currently unable to properly enjoy the M300. Not because there's something wrong with the hardware, but because in the process of bringing my offline library over from iTunes to MediaMonkey, my tags got all screwed over. And there is something wrong with syncing...

Currently syncing my music library from MediaMonkey Windows to MediaMonkey Android on my new M300. Should I expect any compromises with my overall playback experience? Edit: the sync failed. I'm having better success syncing to the micro SD card that will go into the player later.
