Need reference headphones using a Scarlett 2i2
Ah, that would explain it then. Well I guess that concludes my search. Thanks guys for the loads of suggestions, and for saving me 50+ bucks!! Also glad I got the encouragement to learn how to read those graphs. I'll do an impressions post when I eventually get them.- g8tr1522

Need reference headphones using a Scarlett 2i2
Ah, that's weird about those IF graphs. Thanks for recommending that RockGrotto forum Gaga. This was the one I looked at: http://rockgrotto.proboards.com/thread/5352/which-superlux-model-chose Several posts comparing the different 681 models. It raises the question on whether the regular...- g8tr1522

Need reference headphones using a Scarlett 2i2
Found it: http://www.head-fi.org/t/655276/superlux-hd668b-vs-samson-sr850 Post by Dyaems: "if you open up the samson headphone, you will see the word "superlux" on the driver" I'm still learning Ohm's law, so would the difference in the 56 ohm drivers in the 668b and the 32 ohm drivers...- g8tr1522

Need reference headphones using a Scarlett 2i2
lol, yeah, makes sense. I got my interface to drive the Superlux's, so I'm sure they'll work great. I think I'm deciding on these for sure. But, are the Samson SR850's supposed to be clones of the Superlux's? This article describes them as such...- g8tr1522

Really glad to be getting a second opinion on the K271s, as there aren't many detailed reviews. I like what I'm hearing about those Superlux's. I especially like that they're semi-open, as I hear open headphones are the correct headphones to use when constructing a mix. Also, in an Amazon...- g8tr1522

Need reference headphones using a Scarlett 2i2
I'll hafta check for a sale I guess. Yeah, clarity is definitely a big priority. I'm not necessarily looking for a bright sound actually. Just anything that won't be distorted/colored in the mids and treble. I'd like the headphones to be as perceptively flat as I can get (with a larger...- g8tr1522

Need reference headphones using a Scarlett 2i2
The m40x are touted as flat, as the reviews I'm reading say the same. But I saw the m40x's FR graph on diyaudioheaven.wordpress.com and what he reported about the differences between each channel is disturbing, to the point of me recanting these as my choice. But I would definitely like to try...- g8tr1522

Need reference headphones using a Scarlett 2i2
I've read in two separate reviews that the 7510's have a small, but noticeable emphasis in the low mids, so that makes me hesitate a little bit. I've read several reviews about the ATH-m40x now that you've mentioned them. They seem very suited for my needs. I think these will be my pick now...- g8tr1522

Alright, I'll hafta consider those AKG's. There aren't a lot of reviews on those though, and you're the only one who's mentioned that about the bass extension. I'm checking out a lot of FR graphs on that site now, and I'm noticing a lot of closed cans in that price range have a sharp dip in the...- g8tr1522

Thanks metal, that helps much more than a little, haha. My recordings will often lack vocals. I like the bass to be present, but not dominant. I would really like to hear those higher frequencies very clearly, and maybe even harshly if it exposes flaws (I mean when recording of course). ...- g8tr1522

Need reference headphones using a Scarlett 2i2
Hi. I am looking for headphones to help me with mixing, and general music production production purposes. Obviously, I'll need a very flat response, and I want as little of color/warmth/character as I can possibly get. I use a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 as my headphone amp, and if anyone knows of...- g8tr1522

Cans For My Scarlett 2i2
Hi, thought I'd open this thread back up because I am also a 2i2 owner who wants a balanced/flat, non-colored (timbrally) pair of cans for music production purposes, and as a dismiss-able priority, for listening to music. I have a similar budget as the original poster: $100 or less is preferred...- g8tr1522

New Scarlett 2i2 user. Can I use my laptop as a source for headphones/speakers??
Hi. I saw you had no help, so I thought i'd help even though it's almost a year since you posted this. I think you just want to use your laptop output because you can't use your headphones on the Scarlett interface. If so, I'm gonna assume you don't know cable terminology (or not much), so...- g8tr1522

Is an amp helpful for music production?
Read this article: (as in I read it) http://www.hifizine.com/2012/12/focusrite-scarlett-2i2/ So, the frequency response is I guess perfect. And the graph is a logarithmic scale, in case you were confused like me. So the muddiness I'm perceiving must be the conditioning I get from listening...- g8tr1522

Is an amp helpful for music production?
Okay, I just used the interface as my playback device, headphones connected, and wowie zowie was that a big difference. I was literally hearing new things in the Aphex Twin stuff I was listening to that i've never even heard before. Just wow. But I gotta say, it sounds like the bass response...- g8tr1522

Is an amp helpful for music production?
Yeah, is an interface at least better than my soundcard? I didn't even think to check actually...I only got some Panasonic RP-HX40s for now (i recently lost my good cans), so hopefully I'll be able to notice with those.- g8tr1522

Is an amp helpful for music production?
Sorry for the delayed reply; I got Shingles (and i'm 20...). I don't have a tower, so I can't upgrade to that particular soundcard. Any other ideas?- g8tr1522

Is an amp helpful for music production?
Hi! I'm new here. I've joined because I've decided I need headphones in order to do proper mixing when making music. I was wondering if an amp would be helpful or necessary to make a good mix, and if one would make a song sound better (as opposed to using my laptop's driver) when producing in...- g8tr1522
