@Picassofish You did the right choice, older version had more of an anolog sound, like vynil vs cd. I also choose demo version from the shop over a new pair with latest drivers from 2016... Less air less detail but the tone is right, and for me it's the most important thing- tonality done...

@officerdibble    if your hd650 is a new pair i would recommend to be patient and burn them in over 300 hours , the midbass bloom will clear up and bass will settle down a bit, same with warmth .... also i would try hd600 stock cable, definitely will decrease amount of bass / warmth and get...

stock cable of hd650 colors sound , it adds warmth and amount of bass but takes resolution and clarity down a natch ... i tried hd650 with hd600 stock cable and hd650 gain more highs more detail and more air , midrange got more focus and speed , instruments got more edge ... but there was less...

why do you want to use lcd3 in portable rig with your iPhone as a source  ? a heavy headphone that is open and current hungry because of planar magnetic drivers is the worst case scenario for a portable rig...   get yourself a high end in ears, or if its has to be headphones  then audeze Sine...

lcd3 2016 has better damping of inner cup with less resonance  witch makes sound even more open , more like listening to a speakers setup... it also has blacker background and more detail ,its more smooth  with more sub bass and less mid bass.  bass is faster tighter cleaner and punch harder...

@EarDrumExplode    Congratulations!   LCD3 is a thing of beauty!   I strongly advice against burning lcd3 with any type of burn-in cd's or any type of Noise ( like pink noise for example) In my experience burn-in cds or noise tunes speed up a process and you will hear difference in sound...

hmmm strange   lcd2 bambo demo exemplar from the store and lcd2 shedua i had at home where perfectly silent when cups rotated and everything was smooth...   i believe its overtightened screws , I'm going to loosen up screws just a touch and see if it helps.
