Are there any downsides or caveats I should be aware of before deciding to purchase the parts to build AGDR's desktop o2 amp? I am mostly interested in the fact it's an original o2 but with the connections on the back panel. I'd also enjoy the benefits he's introduced but am weary of any issues...

I'd also be interested to know your findings. I've been contemplating picking up some Annie or K701 pads but don't know if it's worth it.

Just wondering but from an electronics standpoint I guess it's ok to substitute the 35V 330uf with the 25V 470uf?   Edit: Doesn't really matter anymore. I broke the 25V caps I put in and ordered 35V ones to replace them. :o

After recent comments I was excited to perform the bass port mod on my K7xx... I was able to pop the grills off and immediately noticed the foam. I thought about removing it to see what it sounded like but didn't want to do two mods at once. It sucks but removing the sticker does render them...

Thanks for those links, I've never heard of these players. I never thought to use more sophisticated software for playback. Foobar does give quite a bit of customization freedom as well as aesthetic control. I have to say though, using the WASAPI plugin I've been quite happy with it's playback...

Yeah, I believe it sounds fine but I've heard that giving the K7xx more juice than what the T1 can provide brings out an even better sound.

This has been asked a million times already but I still don't know for sure. I have an Aune T1... what's the best amp to compliment that DAC for these headphones?

Thanks for the response. I agree the 16 gain setting has been the best sounding. I hear the AKG's require a bit of power to perform well and since I'm only using the T1's amp at the time I'll keep it at 16.

What's the correct gain to use with K7xx? I've been going with +16 and just keeping the volume about 1/3 to 1/2 of the way... I'm just afraid that's too high. What tube do you guys recommend with these AKGs? EDM sounds amazing with the stock tube but I listen to all types of music and want to...

All cables are prone to interference and experience some sort of signal loss to some degree. Therefore it makes sense that a cable with less impedance and better shielding would perform better than the stock cable. I'm about to order one of those thin, $15 cables and I can assure you it will not...

I have an extremely hard time imagining the sound that would come out of my headphones after installing a $300 cable would justify the price. I seriously don't understand how they could cost so much. I can understand the difference between a $14 cable and a $39 one, a quality cable costs money...
