Well, I double checked many times but in my player the EQ does remember the setting. The issue here is that it doesn't affect the sound anymore when switching from a folder to another. Paul...?

The issue with the EQ in CUSTOM mode (FW 1.4.0) happens ONLY when switching song from an album to another. Inside the same folder IT STAYS ON. Maybe that's why Paul from Ibasso doesn't recognize it. To make it happen you must play in SHUFFLE mode to make sure to switch randomly from different...

The DX80' s equalizer won't affect files >48k sample rate and DSD files.

Yes it is normal. I read somewhere this happens due to the capacitors... It can't be fixed through a FW update, sorry...

A good EQ, like the one on  AK120, does improve the sound considerably not only to the lower quality files, even because it is unlikely that someone's ears could have a perfectly flat response curve who maintains itself through the years. Too bad the one on the DX80 is faulty... when it works...

FW 1.3.0. Nothing to do, It can't be helped. Playing a song with a "custom" EQ is OK until you play a DSF file, when EQ stops working. But I know this behaviour is normal and I'm OK with that, the problem is when you after playing this DSF file play another song whatsoever, either mp3 or FLAC...
