Best DACs to use with Linux?
About 15% of my music collection right now is 192/24 and I hope to make that even more. I also feel that's a reasonable place to put the bar as far as recording quality goes, and as the technology advances, that will have me set for a while. Right now I have B&W 686s and HE-500s I'm using it...- Nova40

Best DACs to use with Linux?
I'm looking for a DAC upgrade but am struggling to find ways to get 192/24 to any DAC without using their drivers (which are only available for Windows and Mac). Before I hadn't realized that this needs to be an actually consideration when buying a DAC. Any recommendations?- Nova40

Yeah, my goal is just to be able to play 24/192 because I have quite a number of flac files that are 24/192. But so far I've heard that you need a driver to do that. How certain are you that the XMOS chip in the DacMagic Plus can play 24/192 under linux?- Nova40

Bit Perfect Audio from Linux
Actually I'm in the United States, but that's a good price and looks pretty nice. Can this be used at 384/32bit under linux without a driver? Also, I'm considering going for a balanced dac design, but I don't think it'll fit my current budget...- Nova40

Yup... it's a bummer. So should I start looking for a new DAC, or can I achieve 192/24bit with SPDIF or something?- Nova40

Is there a particular model of their integrated amps that you would recommend given my my budget and use case? And I've never considered a preamp for my system, what might help with?- Nova40

And you think that an AudioNote will be able to drive the HE-6 pretty well too? As well as work ok with my current 686s?- Nova40

Calling All "Vintage" Integrated/Receiver Owners
I'm driving a pair of B&W 686s and am currently using it with my Hifiman HE-500s as well. But I will be upgrading to the the HE-6 pretty soon. I'm looking for something that can compliment how resolving the HE-6s can be while also being able to power my 686s (and eventually Magnepan 0.7s). So...- Nova40

Speaker amps for headphones
Right now I'm using a pair of Hifiman HE-500s with my old Yamaha CA-800, and the result is satisfactory. But I plan to upgrade to the HE-6 in the next month or so. I have my desktop > Cambridge Audio DacMagic 100 > Yamaha CA-800 > B&W 686 and/or HE-500. I know the HE-6 is a very resolving...- Nova40

I know it's hard to compare, but I was wondering how much ($) it would be for an integrated amp that's better than my old Yamaha CA-800?- Nova40

Bit Perfect Audio from Linux
^ is that the chip the DacMagic 100 uses? I've been using Alsa (with USB 1, Front speaker), but I get the same result using IEC958. DeadBeaf says that it's outputting 192/24bit and the dac says that it's only getting 96. I don't know if it helps but the output device says: Cambridge Audio...- Nova40

Bit Perfect Audio from Linux
I'm trying to get 192/24bit to my Cambridge Audio DacMagic100. Using Deadbeef I've been able to achieve 96/24bit, but as I understand it, usb can't achieve anything greater than this without a driver. Unfortunately Cambridge Audio doesn't have a Linux driver. So is there some way to get...- Nova40

Calling All "Vintage" Integrated/Receiver Owners
I just got two NHT SuperZeros for my desk and need to drive them. For my headphones I have the Cambridge Audio DacMagic 100 and Spotify premium as my source, so I'm looking at integrated amplifiers. My dad has an old Yamaha ca 800 in the basement that he doesn't used and just needs a little...- Nova40
