Sennheiser HD 700 Impressions Thread
Hi I have the Schiit Valhalla 2 with the HD700's. I have a quick question that I haven not been able to find through searching. I was wondering do I use the Low or High Gain for the headphones? When I use high there is tube humming but when I use low there is no humming. I'm just not sure if...- kekoukela

AMP/DAC for Sennheiser HD 700 headphones
Here is a look at the inside of the amp. Looks scarier than it is. It really was very simple to make and a lot cheaper than many high end amps out there.- kekoukela

AMP/DAC for Sennheiser HD 700 headphones
Well the bottlehead crack is a kit that you get and it comes with everything you need to build an amp. It has an extremely good manual that tells you step by step how to build it. It requires you to solder wires/resistors so if that's a no go for you then we'd have to find another option. But I...- kekoukela

AMP/DAC for Sennheiser HD 700 headphones
So I have the HD700 and I have used the Modi/Magni combo (1st generation) I recently got the Bottlehead crack and I would really suggest that one. It involves vacuum tubes but the sound that comes out of it sounds WAY better than solid slates in my opinion. But then again, I felt like the...- kekoukela

Crack;Bottlehead OTL
So I tried to fix my volume intensity with this fix from the FAQ portion of Bottlehead's site: 3. I can barely turn my Crack up at all before it's far too loud, what do I do? Disconnect the white wire at the pot that originated at the left RCA jack. Install a 75K resistor between this...- kekoukela

Man Just beautiful work. Are you planing on installing the Speedball on this crack? Do you think the increase in height for the 8 & 9 pin sockets will affect installation of the speedball?- kekoukela

AMP/DAC for Sennheiser HD 700 headphones
I just bought the Bottlehead Crack and I think it pairs really nicely with it. It gives the sound that I was missing when I used the magi/modi combo. I would really suggest getting the Bottlehead Crack. To me, it kinds tames the tremble a bit. But that might just be all in my head.- kekoukela

AMP/DAC for Sennheiser HD 700 headphones
Correct. My mistake in my description. The combo can drive the headphones well. However I find that it lacks color as your stated. Not as warm- kekoukela

AMP/DAC for Sennheiser HD 700 headphones
For anyone still reading this, I have the HD 700 with Magi/Modi combo. I would not suggest this as I don't feel like it drives the 700's to their full potential.- kekoukela

Help with best amp for HD 700 [Valhalla 2, Lyr, or Crack OTL (with speedball upgrade?)]
I think I would actually like my music to be more warm. Do you think the Valhalla 2 would be good for that then? Or do you think the Lyr would be better?- kekoukela

From HD 598 to HD 700: worthwhile or not?
I recently got the HD700 coming up from HD598. I'm currently using a Magi/Modi combination for both headphones. My experience is that the HD598 were good headphones with good soundstage. I really enjoyed my music and it sounded full (warm?). When I upgraded to the HD700 the treble range...- kekoukela

Help with best amp for HD 700 [Valhalla 2, Lyr, or Crack OTL (with speedball upgrade?)]
I think the tremble isn't too bright? Or at least it doesn't bother me that much. Although, it might be because I'm still not used to the terminology. Sorry about that. I think the best way I can describe it is that in the higher ranges, I can hear it perfectly/not too much of an issue. It's the...- kekoukela

Help with best amp for HD 700 [Valhalla 2, Lyr, or Crack OTL (with speedball upgrade?)]
