Indeed. OLED TVs are the best I've seen. I mainly use my TV in darker lighting which the OLEDs excel at.- RAPGOD

Haha yeah I probably won't notice it. My current TV has around 40ms of latency in Game Mode and I don't notice any audio/video since issues. Modern TVs generally have lip sync settings now so I will probably set it to delay the video by 10ms as I'm kinda OCD. More latency is not good for gaming...- RAPGOD

I understand this, but I will eventually own an LG OLED C8 which has 21ms of latency in Game Mode. I would assume I should setup a lip sync delay of 10ms on the display end?- RAPGOD

If that's truly the case in regards to transparency, then that's a shame. I have the Benchmark AHB2 and use my Hugo 2 as a preamp. It do admit it doesn't sound exactly like Hugo 2 raw, but very close. Can I ask what cables you're using for your speakers and interconnects? They can affect...- RAPGOD

For the people a while back, who were talking about the Hugo 2 not having quite enough power for inefficient cans. This may be the product for you: Benchmark Media have announced a new reference grade headphone amp/preamp called the HPA4. It’s THD+N is the lowest on the planet, has a super wide...- RAPGOD

Interesting reply... To tackle your first paragraph, I'll use bullet points to simplify things: -I am relaying the issue of noise floor modulation because it's true. As stated before, this performance issue isn't exclusively tackled by Chord Electronics but by industry veterans Dolby...- RAPGOD

I do agree, I think for purely listening to background music the Hugo 2 is overkill. I wouldn't use a non-Chord DAC though, low quality transient reproduction and noise floor modulation will cause listening fatigue regardless of the volume level I would imagine..- RAPGOD

Yup, we can detect difference in volume down to even 0.25dB. Here's a good article by Audioholics on the topic: https://www.audioholics.com/room-acoustics/human-hearing-amplitude-sensitivity-part-1- RAPGOD

It was to my understanding that the more elements of DAVE were to allow for extremely low distortion at 0dB? If that’s the case, all it means with the other Chord DACs is that THD starts to increase slightly when close to 0dB on Hugo 2 and Mojo. Meaning; if you never drive them too hard or close...- RAPGOD

There's been studies on this. If you want music to help productivity, you need it quiet (at least quiter than speech) and it needs to be music with no/minimal vocals to not distract you (we will naturally be drawn to other human voices). Here's a good article which references good types of...- RAPGOD

He's explained this already.. All off-the-shelf chip designs have noise floor modulation issues. Even if they get better in terms of S/N ratio every few years, that will not be audible - noise floor modulation will. Rob isn't the only person who tackles noise floor modulation issues in the...- RAPGOD

Hahaha I just like learning Robots won't take over the world lol. Both measurements and listening tests are important, that's what Rob does with his DACs and many other designers do. They both have their place and you cannot blindly follow one or the other. If people only "followed numbers"...- RAPGOD

As I stated before: "Yes, they do. I simply use an adapter as I bought the Reference cables before I bought my Apple equipment. You are also correct on the second paragraph. I can't wait until a more affordable standalone M-Scaler is available haha, my bank account probably can though ;) With regards to your direct-to-speaker findings. I think it’s not completely a case of lower distortion, but mainly phase linearity. I just recently purchased a Benchmark AHB2...- RAPGOD

Are you using that as an SRC (sample rate converter)? If so, I would probably advise away from that. I used to use a sample rate converter (Behringer Ultramatch Pro SRC2496) with my old DAC and tried it with a Mojo. Imaging can sometimes being improved, but many of them tend to output added high...- RAPGOD

Thank you for the well written answer. 1. So the Hugo 2 has 2.75 dB overload margin. The reason I asked was because Benchmark Media state their DACs have around 3.01 to 3.5dB of headroom. Which do you think is the optimal amount and does Hugo 2's "headroom" increase as you lower the digital...- RAPGOD
