I am sure some big brands will come up with Planar-Magnetic Cans. I assume R&D would be quite long and costly but when they come up with one it would cost more than any dynamic can in the market today. Just my 2 cents...

Currently we only support the Microsoft Windows platform. This may change in the future but currently no activities are foreseen to port plugins to MAC.   Good for them :(

You should consider desktop amps rather than portable amps since they perform better with power hungry cans. Even in some cases desktop amps cost less. I used to own a number of portable amps including Hornet from RSA. It did a great job until I heard my first desktop amp.

Nice write up. I do prefer EF1 over my Cantate and Graham Slee Solo with K701. I don't know why even though soundstage is larger with the Solo, there is something about the midrange that appeals to me with the EF1.

It just seems that you are not a AKG "guy". If the sound signature is not for you, you should build your system around another can.

I would go with the D2000 and mod them in the future. Yet SR225s would sound heavenly good with rock from any decent source...

I used to pair them with Meier Audio amps. It sounded great, midrange becomes smother and bottom end also improves...

The bass is very refined on my EF1. It goes deep and gives sweet little punch to my K701s. Also, I don't think that EF1 is bass emphasized amp. It has a very balanced sound, very natural.

I have owned both at some point. Pico has a superb DAC yet I cant say the same for Cantate. It is still very pleasant to listen with certain cans such as HD6xx. The amp section of the Cantate is very good imo and Pico was lacking in that department still way better than most of the portables I...

Thanks for the info, Headphoneaddict. On the earlier posts, I have read that EF1 was not completely silent even at the low volumes when the music not playing yet mine is completely black with K701s and Yuins too.

I got one too Few questions, how many hours of burn-in does this amp need ? Also, I got two different tubes and are they both or RCA clear tops ? I am asking this since the markings on them are not readable. Also, I have to add that Head-Direct has a amazing customer service. They have answered...
