I will be getting DT 990 pro, now I need is microphone...

If by chance you don't have a sound card, the Sound Blaster Z comes with a microphone that's better than most any mic you'll find attached to gaming cans:  http://www.amazon.com/Creative-Blaster-Beamforming-Microphone-SB1500/dp/B009ISU33E/   I have it and I can testify as to how well it works...

Good songs to test bass on headphones?

It's not hip hop but one song I'd recommend if from Queen, Gimme the Prize. It's from the Highlander soundtrack and is one of their heaviest songs, I love it. Hardly needs to be mentioned that Freddie completely slays the vocal as well. Of course the more well known Princes of the Universe is a...

    DT990 Pro Impressions Thread

I'm a new owner of some kickass 990 Pros and I totally love them! These are my very first higher-end cans so I don't have a lot of experience, but I'm glad I chose these. I use them primarily for gaming, but I also love listening to music and these are so fun. Right now I drive them with my...

Battlefield 4 and settings to take advantage of sennheiser 363d.

I've got the same questions buddy. I have about the same set up, except I own the Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro.     J

Looking for gaming headphones--is the HE-400 overkill?

Hansotek, thanks for your well thought-out and informative response. I've reviewed some of the articles on the DT990 pros and will see if I can find a local shop that will give me a listen. They are also cheaper and much lighter, 250g! I've heard the mids are a bit recessed but that's not a huge...

Looking for gaming headphones--is the HE-400 overkill?

I did, and they didn't say anything specific about the Z card yet but most think they are good for gaming. Thanks for the responses! Only other q I have is for an alternate (since that $200 deal went the way of the dodo): if I can't find another deal with them at that price, what's the closest...

**Hifiman HE-400 Impressions and Discussion Thread**

Thanks for the responses. Does anything think there will be a problem using the 400's with a Sound Blaster Z card?     J

Is sonic isolation that important then? Do you have any recommendations? I've considered all these other cans:  Audio Technica ATH-AD900X, NVX Audio XPT100, KRK KNS6400, AKG K612PRO, Audio-Technica ATH-M50S, Sennheiser HD 558, and the KAM HP1. Some are open, some are closed.   My budget is...

Looking for gaming headphones--is the HE-400 overkill?

I appreciate the feedback guys. :) Sorry if that first post was too long, I just had to get out what was in my head, it was overwhelming me. I'm old too compared to most gamers (turned 39 this year). I did post on that HE-400 thread to get more info there too. I also go back and forth between...

**Hifiman HE-400 Impressions and Discussion Thread**

I'm really considering the HE-400's, but here is my question. These will primarily be gaming headphones, and I will have them plugged into the Sound Blaster Z card on my PC. Do these headphones work well with the Z? Also:  my primary considerations are imaging, soundstage and bass which I know...

Looking for gaming headphones--is the HE-400 overkill?

I'm relatively new here, but have been doing a lot of research over the past several days or so on the listening experience for my PC. I'm planning on buying the Sound Blaster Z card and am looking for a great pair of cans to round out my experience. My budget is $200 and under, and I will...

    The Soundstage Head Club

Has no one here considered adding the NVX XPT100 to the list? To me it seems like it deserves consideration, here is a review:  http://www.head-fi.org/t/624729/review-nvx-xpt100-a-direct-brainwavz-hm5-competitor       Jason

Building a new gaming PC, have some q's about headphones, soundcards and amps

And I'm really leaning toward the Soundblaster Z. The only thing I don't like is that the dynamic range for the Z starts at 100hz, whereas I prefer it to start down at 20hz or below like the Xonar series.

Building a new gaming PC, have some q's about headphones, soundcards and amps

I looked into the HD558's, but they are open-backed I believe. My problem with open-backed cans is that I'll be playing in the evening and don't want to disturb other people in the room, and I don't necessarily want other people listening to what I am, I prefer it be just me. My budget for...

Building a new gaming PC, have some q's about headphones, soundcards and amps

I've read through several threads here and I totally love how helpful the senior members and experienced folks are at sharing their expertise. It's great and has influenced me to actually join and participate myself. :) Just by way of introduction I plan on using my audio system with headphones...

    New Member Introductions thread

Hey all, I'm new here and this my first post :)   I'm building a PC gaming machine for the first time since '04, and have finally figured out all of my components except the sound card and headphones (and possibly amp). I'll be posting a thread asking questions and things but I wanted to say...
