Um... I've personally upgraded my Bifrost twice (Uber -> 4490 -> multibit), and am considering doing so again for Gen 5 USB. The upgrades clearly exist.

Can any MK VIII or MK VI+ owners compare them to the Ampsandsound Kenzie on sound quality? I'd be especially grateful if anyone has the experience to make that comparison for the original Senn HD800. I know the Kenzie is about twice the price and only single-ended, and both the Little Dots and...

For those of you who have modded the cables on the THX00s, do they have four different colors of wire, or do they use the same two colors on both sides? I'm trying to figure out if I can simply re-terminate mine with a 4-pin XLR without opening the cups.

To be clear, I was giddy when I got my ebonies and saw that they were NOT piano black. I ordered them for the smoother highs, not for the look (I thought I would like the Mahoganies better aesthetically), so when I was the awesome dark wood grain, I was very happy. But, obviously it's a taste...

Both sides on mine are pretty similar in grain. I don't have a picture of the other side saved yet.

I definitely wouldn't call the grain on my ebonies boring. They have much more figure than the Massdrop photos that appear piano black. The (wonderful) high gloss makes it a little difficult to capture though, since I'm definitely not the best photographer.  

The Schiit Jotunheim is awesome. Can't compare it to much, but I can say it was a definite upgrade from the Magni 2 Uber I had before.

I'm running mine out of a Schiit Bifrost (uber at home, 4490 at the office) and the Magni 2 Uber. Seems to pair pretty well.

For the person who was wondering about the 10' cable in an office setting, I just wrap the cable loosely around the based of my monitor stand - solves that problem.
