    FiiO X3MKIII || Dual TI PCM5242 || Dual-mode Bluetooth 4.1 || Dual headphone outputs || Balanced Out || 192kHz/32bit

    Thanks for your huge, totally irrelevant post. I won't regret not seeing more of them in the future.

    FiiO X3MKIII || Dual TI PCM5242 || Dual-mode Bluetooth 4.1 || Dual headphone outputs || Balanced Out || 192kHz/32bit

    Thank you for your detailed reply. I've been a FiiO customer since the original X3 was released, and have always been pleased. I understand the economics of not being able to supply aptX in a lower-cost product. I was hoping that the SoC had enough power to downsample hi-res (to 24/44.1...

    FiiO X3MKIII || Dual TI PCM5242 || Dual-mode Bluetooth 4.1 || Dual headphone outputs || Balanced Out || 192kHz/32bit

    Oh, transcoding is no problem, but I can play FLAC 16/44.1 on my iPhone using foobar2000 mobile. I'll just use my phone at work as my DAP, which is the only place I use the Bluetooth headphones anyway. I don't think upgrading to an X5 is worth the money for my limited DAP use. I'll just use the...

    FiiO X3MKIII || Dual TI PCM5242 || Dual-mode Bluetooth 4.1 || Dual headphone outputs || Balanced Out || 192kHz/32bit

    You may well be right, but apparently the latest X5 and X7 can input hi-res and output through Bluetooth 4--because they use Qualcomm's aptX. Maybe the SOC in the X3 can't resample and lower the bitrate on the fly like the Qualcomm chip. Maybe I'll have to upgrade to an X5.

    I think you misunderstood. My unit works perfectly through wired headphones/IEMs, Line Out, etc. The only problem is the Bluetooth implementation.

    Any FLAC file higher than 16/44.1 as far as I can tell. I don't have any 24-bit files less than 96. Bluetooth turns everything into a lossy format anyway. I don't mind losing the resolution, I expect that. I don't expect that half my files on the memory card won't play at all.

    FiiO X3MKIII || Dual TI PCM5242 || Dual-mode Bluetooth 4.1 || Dual headphone outputs || Balanced Out || 192kHz/32bit

    I bought a set of Sennheiser HD 1 Bluetooth headphones, expecting to use it with my X3 III as well as my iPhone 8 Plus. Imagine my surprise when the X3 refused to play the hi-res files at all. This player must certainly have enough computing power to downsample the hi-res files on the fly to...

    I don't use APE or MP3, but my unit does not have your issues 3 and 4. Everything displays correctly. I'm also not experiencing the "missing" seconds on playback. This is with firmware 1.0.3.

    Official X3 1st gen firmware thread--3.34beta: removed 5800 song limit, play through folders--Happy Chinese New Year!

    I do everything manually, and I don't use playlists. I use Shuffle mode quite a bit, so I don't fill up the card, I just delete albums I'm tired of and copy a new bunch over. I've found Shuffle doesn't work very well with too many albums.

    I've used SanDisk Ultra cards almost exclusively. Never had a problem with any of them, including the 128GB card. Read speeds have never been an issue. I don't write directly to the X3, I use a USB 3.0 MicroSD adapter plugged into my computer when I'm loading up the card, and the speeds are...

    Sounds like a dirty headphone jack. I know it's a new unit, but the jack can pick up small bits of debris in manufacturing.   Try a good blast of compressed air into the jack to clean it out.

    I use 64GB and 128GB cards in my X3. All the files seem to be accounted for in the library, but if I have more than about 32GB of music in the library, Shuffle mode never accesses all the folders. Has anyone else seen this? If it's a bug, I'll have to live with it since we'll never see another...

    Official X3 1st gen firmware thread--3.34beta: removed 5800 song limit, play through folders--Happy Chinese New Year!

    There are always bugs left in the final version of any software, believe me. Fiio has supported the original X3 with software updates well past the discontinuation date--that's pretty rare in itself.   I think James and Joe Bloggs and the rest of the team have done very well by us early...

    If you got a bad card, so did I. Had the same sort of problems. I took it back to BB and traded up to a Sandisk Ultra Plus, which was also on sale but cost me an additional $15. Loaded it up this afternoon with the same hi-res files I had on the Samsung and have been playing on Shuffle for a few...

    Good call. I don't remember ever setting downsampling, but it was enabled in both programs. Changed the settings, and the X3 driver is now showing the correct sampling rate--which apparently it was doing all along.   Thanks!

    I just downloaded and installed the new Windows DAC driver. I followed the instructions in the Readme file, and looking at Device Manager, everything looks fine. However, both the X3 display and the new control panel aren't showing the correct sample rate for the song. I uninstalled and...

    I've had my 1st gen X3 for a long time now, but I'm trying Shuffle mode for the first time (using latest firmware).   I have six folders on the internal storage and 60+ on external storage. I did a lot of driving over the Thanksgiving holidays, so I had the Shuffle mode on for about 30 hours...

    Never mind. I forget I had to use "All Songs" for it to work properly.

    I'm sure I'm missing a setting or something here, but since upgrading to 3.34beta, shuffle only works within a folder. Anyone else experiencing this?     EDIT: Nevermind. I forgot that I had to go through "All Songs" to get it to shuffle everything.

    I guess we'll have to rename this model the "X3 Classic" to put pressure on FiiO to keep selling it after the new model ships.

    Please thank the engineers for all their hard work these past few months. They've done a wonderful job on both the X5 2.0 and the X3 3.0 software.   Now give them some paid time off!

    The idea of pre-sets is not radical. It's done on virtually all TVs and computer monitors so people don't have to fool around with brightness, contrast, and color settings. Shouldn't be hard to do on the X3 and X5, but who decides what the pre-set settings should be?
