Just a small question.   I noticed in some screenshots that there's an option to choose low or high gain on the control panel. However, I use the Omni and I don't seem to have them. Is it because it's only for the PCI cards (Z, Zx, Zxr)? or am I updating my software/firmware incorrectly?

No, it is mostly due to your preference only. Some people prefer SBX, while others prefer Dolby Headphone.

  Did you ask anyone? Not sure why, but the grados aren't really anywhere on the store (or maybe not easily findable). You'll have to ask to get them. They're also limited in the models they have, and none of the branches has them on display for testing either.

The HD558 doesn't really fit your criteria. It's great for gaming, but it won't be adequate for you for electronic needs. Also, considering it's an open headphone, it will leak and won't be really good for mobile purposes.
