I'm using the HE400 with an Asgard 2 on high gain and it still amazes. Lots of other good amps around, though I only have experience with the A2 and thats a fine experience.

Are the standard feet resistant to the heat? Wouldn't they melt? I have an Modi2Uber and an Asgard 2 and till now I've put the dac next to the amp, but would be nicer to put on top. But am afraid the plastic feet would melt.

IMO the signal to noise ratio is a non-issue with Schiit's DACs. Never noticed any noise.

Thanks god I'm happy with the stock HE-400. I'm fine with the pads, the sound (the mids come forward when putting my amp on high gain, so I can play with that on low/high gain if I need to). If I would want to change the pads it would be only for the comfort, I don't want it to change anything...

Have fun with the Asgard2 Leggy. It's a wonderful amp imo. Right now I'm listening from my tablet and oh boy I do want my Asgard2 connected right now because the output from the tablet misses body, power etc. The difference is not small.

Decline of drinking straight whisky? Not by me anyway and I know quite a few other people who like it neat. Only a few drops of water, nothing more will be added. Whisky works fine with relaxing music as well.  

Now that is something I'm still considering (having an Asgard 2 and Modi 2 Uber too). If only for stacking/matching them. Do you think there could be something settled/exchanged with Schiit? Do they do that?
