Norne Audio (Was: Norse Audio): Feedback & Impression Thread

I have been using an RCA to XLR adapter by Trevor for my speaker system. It is used to connect the RCA out from Qutest to an XLR I//C into the XLR input of a Jeff Rowland integrated. It uses 15.9 awg fusion design. Fantastic neutral and transparent, enables the I/C perform at its best. Prior to...

Wow Ultima DAC.. will this be a pure DAC technically superior to either Qutest or TT2? I can finally upgrade my Qutest!!

Norne Audio (Was: Norse Audio): Feedback & Impression Thread

I have a Silver Draug I bought 5 years ago and use it on a Z1R. While there is mild brightness compared to stock it is also very smooth and refined. Nothing like traditional silver that is bright and agressive. My speaker rig is voiced warm side of neutral so I thought it could accommodate the...

Norne Audio (Was: Norse Audio): Feedback & Impression Thread

I recently received an RCA to XLR adapter from Trevor for a speaker rig. I use it to connect Qutest DAC to Jeff Rowland preamp using an XLR to XLR interconnect. It uses 18.9 awg occ silver. Prior to it I used OFC copper adapters. With the silver adapter I get loads of clarity, refinement, detail...

Chord Electronics Qutest DAC - Official Thread

Few times Rob is way off mark. I have 2 decent speaker systems w/ Qutest, in both systems upgrading the PSU was a moderate to significant improvement. Above poster is right a Qutest w/ a decent PSU competes w/ the TT2 in sonics.

Now I am curious to try.. just little worried this might damage the amp. What RCA-XLR adapter did you use would appreciate link.

Chord Electronics Qutest DAC - Official Thread

I see so I guess preamp does not have single ended inputs. I use Qutest w/ Jeff Rowland integrated w/c is fully differentially balanced design would be interesting if this approach performs better than simple RCA connection.

I don’t think that adapter will even fit the Qutest the pair of RCA plugs too close together.

High End Cables Thread (digital, analog, power)

I think I might have been the one who mentioned soft highs on the MUON. It turned out to be a break in issue for some strange reason the cable took 300 hours to settle in my system. Once fully settled it was generally neutral, it is amazing how much digital noise/artifacts it removes resulting...

Chord Electronics Qutest DAC - Official Thread

Oddly nothing at all totally silent. 5 - 6 years is a long time for DAC product to go w/o update.

Chord Electronics Qutest DAC - Official Thread

A Qutest w/ a synergistic power supply like Sbooster or IFI Elite probably is fairly close in performance vs a TT2 in pure DAC function so I suspect not so much an upgrade. I also have been using since the beginning so over 5 years and to me my best chance of a genuine upgrade w/o going over $5K...

Chord Electronics Qutest DAC - Official Thread

In my experience an affordable reclocker like a W4S Recovery or ISO regen improved sonics between an Aurender and Qutest when using usb cable like Curious. So does when using DDC like entry level Singxer. But when I use reference level usb cable these active devices actually subtract from results.

Chord Electronics Qutest DAC - Official Thread

I have systems using DDCs and reclockers but my top speaker rigs do not, just real good USB cable. Have to admit using these active devices can give good improvement at less money.

Chord Electronics Qutest DAC - Official Thread

Have the Elite w/ Qutest on two speaker systems, no buzz. In both the Elite gave a quieter and more robust presentation vs stock. Both systems use Shunyata PLC, one a Denali and the other a Triton.

Chord Electronics Qutest DAC - Official Thread

Not sure but I am using a Shunyata Denali V2 w/c would block whatever noise the IFI could throw back. Did not try it w/o a PLC. Others have reported quite positive results of Qutest - Elite combo.

Chord Electronics Qutest DAC - Official Thread

In my case the IFI Elite gave a quieter and more robust presentation. I think the more popular option is an Sbooster w/c I wanted to compare but did not get a chance. The IFI Elite was more readily available where I am. The Qutest is now 6 years old it is likely Chord has something in the works...

Chord Electronics Qutest DAC - Official Thread

Hi Christer, did you get a chance to hear the Qutest w/ a real good PSU? I have two Qutests both using IFI Elite PSU and found it to be a significant improvement. Interested to hear what you think how this compares w/ Qutest w/ msacaler.

What's the best USB audio cable for the money?

@kingoftown1 Nice digital chain. Mine is simpler no DDC just an Aurender N150 straight to a Chord Qutest DAC w/ upgraded PS. The Shunyata Denali V2 PLC that feeds power into my system brings down noise floor to really black levels it is a crazy good power line conditioner. I also have a 10 guage...

What's the best USB audio cable for the money?

I have an ISORegen USB reclocker and using it on my system especially with a top cable like Muon actually results to sound degradation. On my office system it improves the sound but not in the main system. The Aurender N150 is a clean enough source and coupled with a cable like Muon I think I...

What's the best USB audio cable for the money?

The Muon also removed significant digital haze in my case w/c made everything sound more coherent w/c was awesome. I am aware this also is usually accompanied by a slight darkening of sonics, an outcome of noise elimination. But what I am hearing is something more than this, e.g., with female...

What's the best USB audio cable for the money?

I just bought a Muon USB cable and have been evaluating it prior my trial period lapses. Done the burn in thing in my case needed 400 hours to settle. My current cable is Curious standard cable. While I am impressed at the across the board superiority of the Muon over the Curious, for some...

High End Cables Thread (digital, analog, power)

When you say ‘very revealing’ does this mean hyper detailed? I enjoy a detailed presentation but hyper detail can cause long term fatigue. In my other speaker system the Network Acoustics ENO III w/c is a model below MUON bested a Curious cable - Uptone ISORegen combination. A compare of the...
