HiFi Wireless System to play audio files from PC or NAS
Can you elaborate on the stick PC system? It would help if you can provide models numbers for each endpoint so I can look up what this looks like. For example, where does the PC stick plug into? How does it communicate with the DAC and the speakers?- Excelsius

HiFi Wireless System to play audio files from PC or NAS
I can't do UPnP because I'm not willing to compromise network security for audio. I have a NAS that is sitting in my office, along with my tower PC. All the music is on the PC, duplicated on the NAS. I need a way to play this music seamlessly in other room(s), basically by either playing the...- Excelsius

HiFi Wireless System to play audio files from PC or NAS
Looking for a wireless setup or speakers to play 30K+ audio files from a Windows PC and laptops (mostly APE, FLAC, some DSD and PCM). Looking for following properties: Min 24bit 96 kHz end-to-end bit-perfect wireless support (ideally 192 kHz, but not necessary) 3500+ kbps bitrate support No...- Excelsius

High Quality Wireless Audio Setup
Alright, maybe I don't understand how Roon works then. I'll look more into it. As long as I can buy it once and own it, it can work I suppose. Still, doing custom with Raspberry Pi sounds like quite bit of work. Are there really no pre-made solutions that exist in 2022? I don't know if UPnP...- Excelsius

High Quality Wireless Audio Setup
Not sure exactly what roon is, but a quick lookup shows that it's a subscription service with $10-$13 a month. Everything in my system is DIY and I don't want to rely on a third party subscription, which in addition to cost, one day may go under. Too much time investment in a system that's not...- Excelsius

High Quality Wireless Audio Setup
I've been out of the high quality audio loop for over a decade. Now that I'm more set in my career, I thought it's time to build a high quality wireless audio system. The problem is that I don't know where to start. Here is what I'm trying to achieve: I'm building a very high end Windows...- Excelsius

1/8" Stereo Male to two 1/4" female mono splitter
I can't believe how tough it is to find it. That is it, but it is quite expensive and I have to pay to ship it from Europe to USA. Not worth it. I'll just use either a single stereo adapter 1/8 to 1/4 or two mono adapters. If the choice affects audio quality, let me know.- Excelsius

That doesn't help. First, I don't see anything I am looking for there and second, I am in the US.- Excelsius

1/8" Stereo Male to two 1/4" female mono splitter
I am going nuts trying to find these wires. I basically have a laptop with a single 1/8"(3.5mm) output. I am trying to connect to it two active monitors that have 1/4" outputs and I cannot find a cable that splits 1/8" into 1/4"s. Does anyone know where can I find such a cable? The closest I...- Excelsius

Best Drives for CD Ripping with EAC
Well, after some thinking and reading, I must say that ASUS DRW-2014L1T appears to beat LiteOn LH20A1S. First, both of these drives support C2 error correction and have no caching - which is excellent for EAC. LiteOn seems to be great for reading DVDs that have errors, but so is ASUS. However... -
Best Drives for CD Ripping with EAC
I hope this is the right subforum for this. Anyway, I am an audiophile (or purist, etc) who extensively rips classical music from CDs into lossless formats. I have been reading a lot trying to find out recommended optical drives for EAC, but I am amazed that no such information seems to... -
E-MU 0404 No Right Channel Sound
No, it is loud enough, but when I am trying to really blast the cello suites, I can't get all the power I need. What do you mean by "hot"? I asked in several forums before buying a soundcard. I said that I need THE BEST. They told me to get the 0404. I asked about the 1212m, but they said I'd...- Excelsius

E-MU 0404 No Right Channel Sound
Well, it has Host Asio output 5/6, 7/8..... The only one with 1/2 output is the PCI one, but when I do that, I am completely unable to control the volume from my computer. I guess that's what you are referring to - but for that I'd need an amp or a preamp. I don't think there will be a...- Excelsius

E-MU 0404 No Right Channel Sound
I am a "purist" as well. You have to be for classical music. When I use send, it offers me several ratios of "hosts." I don't know which to choose. Also, when I go to the outputs tab, the map shows that the output indeed goes to the monitors (PCI Card Out). Nevertheless, when I switch the...- Excelsius

E-MU 0404 No Right Channel Sound
ok, i fixed the problem. I have read the entire manual, but still don't get which presets are the best. I'm listening to classical music. Do you have any suggestions? I am already using ASIO output, but I don't know the difference between Inserts. Do they affect the quality of the sound? What...- Excelsius

E-MU 0404 No Right Channel Sound
I have been totally vexed by this damn soundcard. I never had any problems until recently I tried to install another program for the sound (that came with the factory MSI motherboard). I did that so that I could try to use a microphone as I don't have a mixer. Not only did it not work, but it...- Excelsius

Are my speakers destroyed?
OK guys, you're having too much fun at my expense. I told these were my first pro speakers and I get them because I was recommended in forums after weeks of research. As I understand, you're saying that I can't get a great pair of speakers for at least under $1000? Is that really so? I also... -
Are my speakers destroyed?
peter, that's an excellent advice, just what I wanted to find out! When any of you feels compelled to say absolutely nothing, please at least be kind enough to throw in something in that can be of SOME use, otherwise you're wasting your, and what's much worse, everybody else's time. -
Are my speakers destroyed?
OK. So what speaker can I get? I want great quality and the power to not blow even when I max out my soundcard. These are exclusively for classical playback and sometimes when I listed to a piece by Bach I like to max out the volume so that my walls start vibrating. It's a quasi-orgasmic... -
Are my speakers destroyed?
GotNoRice, thanks a lot. I went back to zero in the E-MU and almost all the distortion is gone, but there is still very little remaining at very high frequencies. Is there a way to definitively test whether my tweeters are blown so that I use the warranty while I can? And why is the sound... -
Are my speakers destroyed?
I have Alesis M1 MK2 BiAmp active speakers (http://www.zzounds.com/item--ALEM1AMK2). Today I was listening to classical music and I blasted it off. Now when I listen to high frequency parts of any music (e.g. female choral), my tweeters seems to create this harsh noise similar to rubbing plastic...- Excelsius

First Custom Inteconnects
Quote: solder each wire of the cable to the appropriate pins on the D-sub connector, take note which wires are for which channels (L & R, signal & ground), and solder the 1/4" mono plugs on the other end of the cable That's exactly what I meant. Maybe I won't be able to fit two 2 core ones... -
First Custom Inteconnects
I finally see what you mean. Those ARE the cables for the speakers. I thought they were just an adapter. In that case a slight modification: instead of an F-connector at the other end, I will have to use the 1/4" mono plug. Otherwise I will have to get a short adapter to fit into my speakers. I... -
First Custom Inteconnects
Zorander, I just read the guide for break-out adapter. It was very helpful to find out about partsexpress.com! If the stock break-out has such a low quality that it will really show on my speakers, then I will make my own in a month or two. I have decided to make my own interconnects. At the... -
First Custom Inteconnects
Thank you very much for your response. At this point I am completely exhausted don't want to solder anymore if I can help it. I was pointed to: http://www.samash.com/catalog/showit...RCH&GroupCode= I think I'll just get 2 of this and connect my speakers. What do you think? Regarding the...
