    Audiophile cables, an interesting question.

Maybe I should start buying cables from Jesus?

    Does Equalizing actually distort music?

With modern equalizers you would have to be nuts to actually perceive an unwanted distortion.  I do not even know if there is recording hardware that can capture the distortions produced.

    Does Equalizing actually distort music?

Yes, have you used Winamp pre2001?  Older computer hardware had limitations, especially the lower end stuff. A firmware I flashed to my Nexus 4 had something wonky with the DSP, so EQ was causing nasty hiss.   Not really much from the top of my head, but my hesitance towards EQ came from...

    Gaming headset good for music.

UE6000 is over ear? Think I might be getting confused between the UE6000 and UE4000 You are right about the DSS.. Thought the back jack was for mixing a mic, just another input. A shame since the Mixamp costs quite a bit more

Rank the Headphones that You Own.

I have been considering the ZMF as well. Hopefully someone can chime in, coming from the A900x/K550 and hoping for a worthy upgrade!

    Best Sub-$50 basshead iem?

I have the M5, they are not neutral, but certainly not 'basshead' imo

Adding a DAC to my iPod?

I wish Sony had a new Smartphone+Walkman refresh.  Hate carrying around a large phone and dap. Not sure if the X5 reviews are hype, but I am considering upgrading my WMZ-Z1040.  Excellent player, but has very little storage

    Gaming headset good for music.

Earforce DSS would get you surround cheap (paid $17 used online), definitely works with PS3! M100 is also a good headphone, but it is likely over your budget. Not sure of any other 'trendy' headphones that sound good, and are full sized haha

Adding a DAC to my iPod?

Reviews make the X5 look significantly superior, but I personally have no idea.

    Does Equalizing actually distort music?

Severity depends on the software and the hardware used.

    Audiophile cables, an interesting question.

I recabled my stock DT880s with some tapped alumium foil.  Smoother treble, midrange is a tad forward, much better than stock!

Please suggest a good DAC useful for gaming?

A USB-DAC + Razer surround software might be something to consider. Works well once setup, and imo USB DACs are better value money wise.

    Gaming headset good for music.

V-Moda M80 + Boom Mic addon.  Fits your budget, looks great, sounds great, bass is definitely there!  Portable, and comes with a nice hard case.  Microphone is really good compared to headsets. You cannot have true surround sound on most headphones, but you could use a source with Dolby...

Almi's Logitech Z-5500 Mod (High-End upgrade for the speaker system)

I bought the whole system at a thrift store for $30-ish.  Will try this mod out, thanks!

Best USB DAC for Sennheiser 598 (Genre Specific)

Yulong U100 might suit your needs, definitely on the smaller side compared to similarly priced USB-DACs. Sounds great as well!

Best unamped/cheap amp can for lots of electronic and some indie rock?

Forgot to mention the AD900x, MA900, DT990, and X1 are good 'open' options for the genres you listed.  Assorted from least to most bass heavy, but none of these have an overblown 'basshead' sound

Best unamped/cheap amp can for lots of electronic and some indie rock?

A900x is a great headphone, and can occasionally be found in the $100-$120 range.  Bass is not overblown, but is satisfying.  Vocals are really nice, comfort is excellent for most.   You might want a sealed headphone for PC use.  Open headphones are a bad idea with a noisy PC

    D7000: Re-cable Or Sell?

This!  I would probably have someone reterminate the cable for me if I knew this was a one time thing, just because the D7000 is so expensive haha
