Periodic Audio IEMs Mg, Ti, Be, C

i understand where you are coming from. i owned dozens of earphones. Your points are valid and there are many earphones on the market with those features. i'm just providing another perspective. Of course, i would like the BE to have all the features in the world, but it would be a totally...

Periodic Audio IEMs Mg, Ti, Be, C

I would like to add my thoughts on your points, 1. 45 degrees is best. don't like right -angle as it stresses the stress relief rubber. there is a case for straight plug actually. Most flagship smartphones nowadays use adapters for audio output and right angle plug would not work. Right angle...

Periodic Audio IEMs Mg, Ti, Be, C

Both are absolute steal for their price in comparison to their competitors. Primacy has removable cable but is heavier. I think the BE has better SQ. BE has 5 year warranty. Maybe just get whichever that has the better design for you or SQ if you're very picky about that.

Periodic Audio IEMs Mg, Ti, Be, C

Still absolutely loving the BEs but still felt that the upper bass is too much would like more subbass maybe. I'm looking to for an upgrade in source. Does anyone have any recommendation? I'm looking at mojo, micro iDSD, maybe the new Mytek clef and xDSD. Fiio Q5 looks good but i'm not...

Periodic Audio IEMs Mg, Ti, Be, C

So, I had the BEs for a few days now. It's still in the process of burn-in(i know Dan doesn't believe in it) but I still hear differences. out of the box, it sounds neutral in a natural. The right amount of bass, midrange warmth, and treble. After few days, the treble seems to reduce and...

    Philips Fidelio X2?!

DFR itself is a bit bright sounding. It will lift any headphone's treble a bit. Only you can decide if you want just a tiny bit more treble.

    Philips Fidelio X2?!

Sorry for late reply. Based on what you said, i recommend the Nighthawk with dragonfly red. Yes Nighthawk is expensive but they are much easier to get great sound than HD650, especially in the bass compartment. You could be saving on the source side of things and if you want to upgrade them in...

    Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread

Totally agree. Mojo is not bass light. It's simply presenting the bass as very tight. No bloom. Not sure why many are in denial that Hd650 is not bass light. I can't think of many headphones with leaner bass than HD650. Measurements back this up too. My opinion of HD650 is that it has amazing...

    Chord Mojo(1) DAC-amp ☆★►FAQ in 3rd post!◄★☆

not to forget that people (me included) sometimes get confused with 'fatter bass' as more power.  In my experience, most of the time it is simply more distortion in the bass.

    Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread

I've had the HD650 for a week now. I also have an X2 now and the Elear previously. My biggest issue with the HD650 is the lack of bass. I'm a bit of a basshead so this is a big glaring flaw for me.  Elear was perfect for me. X2 is a bit lacking in the sub bass but it was still bearable. HD650 is...

    Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread

My experience is the exact opposite. HD650 with my Mojo sounds bass lean with plenty of details. Maybe your music has tons of bass? HD650 can't do bass well. Too much distortion and lack of extension.

    Focal Elear - Impressions Thread

I'm not a big fan of Asgard 2. I felt the transparency level of it is below par. My mojo certainly is multiple levels more transparent than it. It does have tons of power though. So if you love planars, they are a good entry level amp. The Elear deserve much better amp.

    Philips Fidelio X2?!

I just received a HD650. So if anyone wants any comparison between the X2 and HD650, just tell me. Initial impression are that the HD650 has significantly better separation and transparency but X2 has better soundstage and bass. With the HD650, i enjoy how everything is presented in layers...

    Focal Elear - Impressions Thread

Elear is punchy and dynamic because it is trying to be as transparent and realistic as possible. Real music is punchy and dynamic. A kick drum has big punch. The more transparent a headphone is, the harder it should punch. If it doesn't, then there's a flaw/weakness. It's the same theory as high...

    Focal Elear - Impressions Thread

O2 combo has enough power and you will get decent SQ However, Elear is not merely a decent headphone, it's a proper high-end headphone. The cheapest high-end source I can think of is Chord Mojo which is exactly spot on for your budget.  I think it's not worth getting anything less, you'll...

    Philips Fidelio X2?!

I can report that after few days of burn in, it's smooth and has pretty black background.   I got the X2 at almost half the price of HD650. So it's a no brainer to me. The advantages of X2 are more comfortable, much bigger soundstage, less distortion when played loud and very easy to drive...

Movies: Soundstage of 800S but subwoofer type bass?

My experience with planar headphones are that they have small soundstage and lacking explosiveness in dynamics. This is especially true for planars below the high end range. The only planars that i find does't suffer from this is LCD3 and LCD4. One advantage of planars is the good extension of...

    Philips Fidelio X2?!

I can also report that the X2 are surprisingly easy to drive. Straight out of my Ipad Air2, it sounds decent but not terrible which i find 300Ohms headphone always do. Out of my laptop, dynamics are good and most people would't know if it can do better. Out of my Mojo, there's definitely a bit...

    Philips Fidelio X2?!

After burning them in for 1day, the dynamics certainly improved and treble is more present. Before burn in, they are quite dark. Now they are a bit sibilant. Before burn in, they are definitely darker than HD650. Now i would say they are in between HD600 and 650.

    Philips Fidelio X2?!

Just got this baby and I thought posting my pre-burn in impression might be helpful to some. I run them with Mojo. Some early obvervations: 1. Bass is not as boosted as I expected. I would still consider them as fairly neutral. I don't think any bass head will be satisfied with the bass...

Help me decide between Sennheiser HD 650 or Philips Fidelio X2

Whether you get the HD650 or X2, both are a good upgrade from what you have right now.   One thing that you might be concerned is the capability of your source. X2 requires a low impedance amp while HD650 requires a bit of power. Also know that while HD650 has good resolving ability but this...

    Chord Mojo(1) DAC-amp ☆★►FAQ in 3rd post!◄★☆

I'm currently running the Mojo using optical cable because i'm too lazy to install the drivers and the optical connector is more robust. I know Rob said there should't be any difference in SQ but has anyone found any significant difference between USB and Optical?

    Chord Mojo(1) DAC-amp ☆★►FAQ in 3rd post!◄★☆

If you think Mojo is hot, wait till you touch a tube amp. I had the ALO CDM before, this thing gets so ridiculously hot that it becomes a discomfort to turn the volume knob!

iI usually use them with Mojo, It's absolutely neutral. No bloat in anywhere. Just fast, detailed, lots of depth and smooth sound.

    Chord Mojo(1) DAC-amp ☆★►FAQ in 3rd post!◄★☆

Oh wow. I had the CDM before. I didn't realize that it is so capable! It seems likes the transparency of the source plays a much bigger role than sheer power in 'driving' a headphone.     This is extremely helpful!
