I had the issue a few times. With no reason. Then it worked again. Light was green and it has to be red while charging. However charge worked some times even if it was green. Did they ask for the bill for the battery ? When mine died they did not replace it because I lost it.

The 3 seconds start up time is a trick because the power off acts like a sleep mode (so be carefull if you do not use the player for a while). In the options menu you can perform a proper shut down, and when you turn it on it does not take 3 seconds !
