Campfire Audio - Introducing 2 new models Hello Andromeda and Nova
I have not heard the Vegas but the Andromedas have an excellent neutral and balanced sound that fits my tastes perfectly. I have not heard better treble reproduction than on the Andros. Even the Focal Utopia does not render treble as smooth and sparkly without sibilance as the Andromeda. WM1A...- Muse Wanderer

Campfire Audio - Introducing 2 new models Hello Andromeda and Nova
Thanks for the impressions of WM1A with the Andromedas. I have been waiting for first impressions of the combo for quite some time, especially with respect to presence of hiss (almost omnipresent with many DAPs given the Andro sensitivity) and the neutral signature since the Andro morphes into...- Muse Wanderer

Focal Elear and Utopia Review / Preview With Measurements - Head-Fi TV
Does reterminating the stock cable on the Utopia to a balanced one (via my seller) affect the warranty in any way? I need to run balanced via Ragnarok.- Muse Wanderer

Focal Elear and Utopia Review / Preview With Measurements - Head-Fi TV
Why should something that costs more automatically sound more realistic? Comparing Beats to Abyss is a moot point of course. The HD650 has a very impressive tuning compared to LCD 4 for example. However the HD650 lacks in clarity and bass quality due to its veiled nature. When you...- Muse Wanderer

Campfire Audio - Introducing 2 new models Hello Andromeda and Nova
The Andromeda sounded great on the Ragnarok's single ended output that has an impedance of 3.3 ohms - ideal for the Andro neutral sound signature. Noise floor was low on low gain at low volume pot level of course. However I did not listen to it for extended periods as I needed to buy an...- Muse Wanderer

Focal Elear and Utopia Review / Preview With Measurements - Head-Fi TV
Pricing should not be part of the equation though. I compare products to the best reference - live acoustic music. That reference only costs the price of a ticket. Very expensive systems can be completely wrong sounding whilst other cheaper systems can sound like the real thing.- Muse Wanderer

Focal Elear and Utopia Review / Preview With Measurements - Head-Fi TV
The problem is high strings. This particular string trio on the HD800S for example had the viola and double bass sounding full and bodied. The violinist instead seemed like being on a skateboard moving towards me when he plays low notes and away from me on high notes. I listened to a cello and...- Muse Wanderer

Focal Elear and Utopia Review / Preview With Measurements - Head-Fi TV
Yeah I listened to the Ether Flows too at Canjam. Whilst having a very surreal impressive sound relative to good dynamics, the mids are still recessed. This past year I became obsessed about this feature as I love my violins! The HD800 and HD800S soundstage is based on this in part, as mids...- Muse Wanderer

Focal Elear and Utopia Review / Preview With Measurements - Head-Fi TV
The bass is too emphasised which may be fine if I was a basshead. My aim is absolute speaker like neutrality. Even my HD800S lags behind in this respect. Listening to a string trio I listened to live in concert followed up by the same rendition on my speakers (via Yggy Rag) resulted in the...- Muse Wanderer

SONY NW-ZX2
New (or more expensive) does not mean better though. I would need to audition the new WMA1 before buying. The ZX2 still looks good and should pair nicely with my CA Andromeda. Used prizes should make it even more enticing!- Muse Wanderer

Campfire Audio - Introducing 2 new models Hello Andromeda and Nova
Yeah if you have a Mojo it is worth a try. But it is not worth to buy a Mojo or any device with very low output impedance for the Andros. The Andromedas are better than the HD800S in my opinion for my personal music preference that is classical music. The HD800S I had it since January. Had...- Muse Wanderer

Campfire Audio - Introducing 2 new models Hello Andromeda and Nova
Campfire Audio gave an excellent service to another unusual request of mine. I lost the Andromeda leather case whilst in a trance listening to a Bruckner symphony! I enquired with them as these cases were not available for sale separately. They started selling them as single items after my...- Muse Wanderer

Campfire Audio - Introducing 2 new models Hello Andromeda and Nova
I absolutely adore my Andromedas. I certainly was not expecting that this IEM would trounce my HD800S for listening enjoyment. Tried the Andromeda with a Mojo at Canjam. It was way too bassy. It's a shame cause otherwise the sound was exceptional but I value a neutral sound and this wasn't it...- Muse Wanderer

Focal Elear and Utopia Review / Preview With Measurements - Head-Fi TV
I checked out the Elear at Canjam. The mid suckout is too much for my taste. It tends to change the timbre of string instruments in a weird way. Trying the Utopia just next to it was a night and day difference. My goodness this headphone is good. Much better than my HD800S which has recessed...- Muse Wanderer

The Official Sony NW-WM1Z/ NW-WM1A Flagship DAP (Live From IFA 2016)
Yep, but it matters to me! The Campfire Audio Andromedas are notoriously sensitive with sensitivity going down to 4 ohms in the bass region! Pairing it with the Mojo whilst great sounding was way too bassy for my neutral taste. The ZX-2 apparently is a great pairing with...- Muse Wanderer

Schiit Jotunheim Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV
Jodie's pivot point technology implemented to drive speakers would be great. I am waiting patiently to RMAF and Schiit showing off good ol' 2-channel stuff or maybe (I wish) revamped Rag! Hopefully driving Salk Song 3 speakers too.- Muse Wanderer

The Official Sony NW-WM1Z/ NW-WM1A Flagship DAP (Live From IFA 2016)
The output impedance of the WM1A would be nice to know but apparently it is top secret! The ZX2 pairs well with the CA Andromedas - OI probably 1.7-2 ohm If the WM1A has lower OI than it is a no-go for me as the Andro will turn into a bass monster as it did with the Mojo!- Muse Wanderer

SONY NW-WM1Z / WM1A
I would be interested in the output impedance of these new DAPs, especially the WM-1A version. If it has the same ~2ohm output impedance as the ZX-2, with similar sound quality, then it is a winner in my books. Can't have any lower impedance on my crazy sensitive Campfire Audio Andromedas!- Muse Wanderer

SchiitShow 2: This Changes Everything
I wonder whether the Ragnarok can be "upgraded" from cyclotron topology to the new pivot tech used in Jotunheim. That way we would have the best of both worlds - no DC servo and newer solid state technology that might have better overall sonic character. I for one love listening to...- Muse Wanderer
