In the market for new cables and need help
Hey Head-fiers, I have a pair of Hifiman HE-300 headphones and the stock cable transmits a lot of noise when rubbing against itself or an edge. So I'm looking for a new cable... Any Recommendations? I prefer to have a cable that has both 1/4" and 1/8" jacks. Or if anyone has ideas for...- EyeMKermie

need help re:open back headphones
I read through your thread, but I wasn't a fan of the Sony phones and I saw a lot posts about the AKGs which are another phone I feel just didn't do it for me. The AKG 701s and ma900s didn't feel, imho, very sturdy or comfortable mostly due to the headband. Also, when I heard the two I didn't...- EyeMKermie

need help re:open back headphones
Hey Everyone, I made a post a few months back asking for similar help when I was shopping for a headphone. The previous thread ended in the suggestion that I get the Beyer DT990 pro 250ohm. However, two weeks after that my dad finally handed down his home hi-fi setup: preamp, amp, eq, reverb...- EyeMKermie

First steps into this new world.. help needed
Was just roaming through some of the reviews and forums for the hp200s. Some people are mentioning (one guy posted a freq response curve) that they really fall off at the upper mid range and that the soundstage isnt that great. Im guessing they will respond equally as well to the vali amp...- EyeMKermie

First steps into this new world.. help needed
Hey guys, Thanks for the heads up on those soundmagic hp200s. those cans look great. 200 on amazon. Like the dt990s they just look really comfortable and some of the reviewers have said they tested with music I listen to so that is good. But the price of the soundmagics have me hesitant.- EyeMKermie

First steps into this new world.. help needed
I started to get into tube rolling but its honestly just one too many hobbies in my life lol. As a hot rod builder and product design student, plus i do a lot of IT work.. buiding home nas systems gaming computers etc.. im stretched a bit thin to add all that so I like the idea of not messing...- EyeMKermie

First steps into this new world.. help needed
Just curious, Did anyone check the songs I listed for a reference to what I will be listening to with these phones and amp/dac? Also.. is the AD700x in any way comparable the dt990? I've just heard so many good things about the ad700x to not do a head to head vs the dt990. Just to...- EyeMKermie

I agree. I have a vintage tube amp as part of my home hifi.. its great for some stuff but not for everything. I actually only use my home hifi if im listening to classical or some jazz. I think now my choice is which amp to get magni or vali, and whether to start with the behringer or just...- EyeMKermie

sorry there was a typo. I meant to say your thinking as in your method and mindset for using the vali with the dt990. Im well aware that the vali is an amp. I know you have personal experience with the two and I really appreciate your help. I actually would not have known that the 250ohm was so...- EyeMKermie

Btw- totally get you thinking using the vali to make up for what the dt990 is lacking. I spent 6 months tuning my car to get the right balance. Changing amps, mid, tweeters, signal processors, sound deadening the car, and everything else.- EyeMKermie

The dt990 would be my first anything lol over 100 ohm impedance so I will take your word. How do you think the vali will effect my conference calls and games?- EyeMKermie

First steps into this new world.. help needed
The phones and am/dac that I'm looking for is just to connect to my computer for work stuff and music while I'm working and of course games. I still have my 3 thousand dollar car audio system ( all SQL setup) and a older vintage but still amazing home hifi setup. I am rarely just listening...- EyeMKermie

The 260mW @ 300ohm numbers are directly from the Schiit spec sheet. At 32ohms the magni outputs 1.2W per channel. Yes. 1.2 watts. sounds like a lot but definitely what Schiit lists on their spec sheets. I know the vali sounds wonderful, but it is a hybrid and still has tubes. I will be...- EyeMKermie

First steps into this new world.. help needed
Before I jump on the Behringer to go with possibly the best birthday gift for myself in years( started this thread on my bday) the dt990, I went back on the ALO and Schiit sites to double check specs and prices .. the usual. I am now wondering if I should just jump all in... in a way... and get...- EyeMKermie

I also have heard quite a bit on the superlux's, but I'm still pretty skeptical about the quality of the headphones( build and sound). The forums and web is full of good things about the sound, but at 30 bucks for them I wonder how long they will last. If I went with the hd668's at $30 plus the...- EyeMKermie

First steps into this new world.. help needed
Hello Everyone, This is my first post. I feel I have some unique needs in a future headphone purchase. I work from home and I am a student too. I will occasionally work in a more public area, but this is rare. I am looking to up my headphone game and I need something I can wear all day. I...- EyeMKermie
