I have a pair of Sennheiser HD228 and for what I paid (approx $50) they are ok.  I also have a pair of Sennheiser PX200's and the PX200's blow them out of the water.  Huge difference.  I don't know anything about the HD229's, but if you can afford it, pay a bit more or at least look for another...
