    K712 vs. HD800

The K712 sounded a bit dark due to the lowered hi-mids. Soundstage was way more centered compared to other phones (especially the 701/702). Lower mids aswell as a peak at about 9kHz were a bit too exaggerated on the K712. Overall very comfortable phones, like a cussion that you can sink in, but...

    Lake People G109 / G103 thread

Yep, the P version has relays built in. I'm not sure if you're right about the sound, heard different experiences. Mybe someone from Violectric/LakePeople can chime in to clear up the sonic differences between the G and V series.

    Lake People G109 / G103 thread

Ha ;D Heard the V200 has more depth and definition. There are certain things that bother me with the G109s, like the warmth, the soundstage and the fact that I have to plug and unplug my headphones all the time... I didn't do this with my K701s and one day when I turned it off, my right driver died.

Most Neutral, Well Balanced and Flattest Headphones For Audio Mixing / Mastering?

hands down:   The flattest frequency response: K702 The most natural frequency response: HD600   Avoid the K701, they sound different than the K702: more plastic and grainy, in one word unnatural. The Beyerdynamic DT880 is a bit V shaped and fatigueing IMO. I'm currently using the HD800...

    DT880 dissatisfaction?

Had the very same problems with the dt880. The mids were a bit recessed and the spike at 8kHz was VERY annoying - even on my headamp. My HD800 has more high frequencies but is absolutely not as fatigueing as the dt880.   My advise: Get the HD600, you won't regret it. Mids are a dream and...

The AKG K712 Pro Support and Impressions Thread

Whatever you do, keep the HD650. I've sold mine and went for the HD800. Big mistake. I also had the K712 for a week or so. Didn't like the mids and the built quality. The K702 or the K612 is a better choice.

AKG K702 (The Classic) vs. K612 Pro (The Upstart) – Review and Comparison

The K612 pads are the same as the K702 pads, except they're not angled. I couldn't get used to the K712 pads. They felt very weird, similar to a closed headphone.

AKG K702 (The Classic) vs. K612 Pro (The Upstart) – Review and Comparison

I'd go with the K612. The K702 is better in resolution but trimmed to be perfectly linear. Great plus for studio applications but very unnatural sounding. The K612 is IMHO a more comfortable and more natural/warm sounding headphone. They sit in the middle, between the K702 and the HD600. The one...

Why is pairing an interface with HD600s so DIFFICULT?

Why is pairing an interface with HD600s so DIFFICULT?

I'm using an AVID C400 with a Lake People G-109 for music production. It's capable of running every headphone, even the HD800. http://violectric-usa.com/headphone-amplifiers/g109-p

    Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread

My K701s right driver died a month ago. I've then sold my HD650s and bought the HD800. Bad decision... The HD 800 is stunning. Timing, instument localisation, detail - everything overwhelming, BUT, quite frankly, it never gets as good as the HD650. The HD650 sounds organic, it pulls you into the...

    Ultrasone New performance Series: 840, 860 & 880 (First post last update : 2014/12/07)

Very interesting, many thanks for your impressions!   They seem to be the first closed hi-fi headphones, but I'm very concerned about the harshness. Is the Ultrasone 880 more harsch than the T1 or dt880? Which one is less fatigueing?

    Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread

This will settle with burn-in, believe me. The HD650s were a bit sibilant, but clean and punchy when I first got 'em. Now - after burn-in - they are dark and muddy. They sound loud best, due to the treble roll-off. That's why they are so popular. Try them at lower levels and they are muddy and...

Ok... Bought a new one SerialNr.: 18XXXX and after listening to it for about 3 hours I have to say that, yes, there are differences between my old and this newer one:   The new ones are definetely faster, the highs brighter and with a bit more sparkle. Could be the pads. It's still laid back...

    Reversible AKG K701 bass mod

Did this mod a while ago. Bass was fuller but also very bloomy, almost muddy. The highs were uncontrolled and sometimes sibilant. Can't recommed it. The K701 sounds best without any mods.

    Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread

Thanks gents. Very interesting. I already knew the blind test from Tyll.   That's exactly what I think. Do drivers have to loosen up a bit? Yes. Does this burn-in effect changes their soundsignature for more than 10% (5% is IMO more reallistic here). I think no, it deosn't.   What really...
