Just to double check, the SP1000 provides line out voltage value as low as 0.7v, and you will need to activate line out button on the volume panel. And when you activate the line out button, the volume is not adjustable. So the KSE1200 has clipping sound even you set a voltage to 0.7v?

ESW950 has a 42 ohms impedance, but ESW990h has a 60 ohms impedance. Not sure if they have different sound signature. Mine is a pair of ESW990h, always want to get a pair of 950s because they are easier to drive.

Seems esw 990h is not very popular here. I am using it with the upgraded ATH cable, paired with an SPK copper. I find the sound very refined and enticing. The most important reason is that it is easy to drive. One of the best portable headphones.

I use se846 and tried many types of foams/tips, and end up with Shure yellow foam. It has the best clarity and balance to my ears.
